3 GENERAL SAFETY RULES WARNING: Read all instructions. F a i l u r e t o f o l l o w a l l instructions listed below may r esult in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury . The term “power tool” in all of the warnings listed below r efers to your mains-operated (corded) power tool or battery-operated (cordless) power tool.
4 GENERAL SAFETY RULES Use auxiliary handles supplied with the tool. Loss of control can cause personal injury . Hold power tool s by insul ated grip ping surf aces when performing an operation where the cutting tool may contact hidden wiring or its own cord.
5 SYMBOLS Important: Some of the following symbols may be used on this tool. Please study them and lear n their meaning. Pr oper interpretation of these symbols will allow you to operate the tool better and safer .
6 DOUBLE INSULA TION Double insulation is a concept in safety in electric power tools, which eliminates the need for the usual three-wir e grounded power cord. All exposed metal parts are isolated from the inter nal metal motor components with protect- ing insulati on.
7 FEA TURES Before using this tool, familiarize yourself with all operat- ing features and safety requir ements. However , do not let familiarity with the tool make you careless. This new drill is equipped with the following features. See Figure 1. SINGLE SPEED REVERSIBLE SWITCH This drill has a single speed rocker -type switch.

9 WARNING: The tool should never be connected to a power supply when you are assembling parts, making adj ust men ts, clea nin g, perf orm ing mai nten anc e, or when the tool is not in use. Disconnecting the tool will pr event accidental starting that could cause serious injury .
10 ASSEMBL Y Fig. 4 TO INST ALL BITS See Figure 4. Unplug the drill. Insert the chuck key and twist counterclockwise as shown in figure 4. Insert the drill bit into the chuck the full length of the jaws. WARNING: Do not inser t dril l bit into chuc k jaws and tigh ten as shown in figure 5.
11 OPERA TION WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating this tool. Failure to do so could result in dust, shavings, or loose particles being thrown into your eyes, resulting in possible serious injury . SWITCH See Figure 6.
12 DRILLING See Figures 8 and 9. Attach auxiliary handle (except for very light duty jobs) Depress and release the switch trigger to be sure the drill is in the OFF position befor e connecting it to power supply . Secure the material to be drilled in a vise or with clamps to keep it from turning as the drill bit rotates.
13 MAINTENANCE Fig. 10 CHUCK REMOV AL See Figure 10, 11, and 12. The chuck must be removed in order to use some acces- sories. T o r emove: Unplug the drill. Open chuck jaws using the provided chuck key . Inser t a 3/8 inch (10 mm) or lar ger hex key wren ch into the chuck of the drill and tighten the chuck jaws securely .
