This operating manual contains important instructions for safe and efficient handling of the Grundig Business Systems Digta 420 (hereinafter referred to as “device”). This operating man- ual is part of the device and must be kept accessible in the imme- diate vicinity of the device for persons working on and with the device.

12 Initial Operation Initial operation Insert batteries or rechargeable batteries Open the rechargeable/battery compartment and insert the rechargeable battery pack 466* or batteries chargeable battery pack 466* or batteries (T yp Micro / AAA, 2 x 1.5 V).
13 Initial Operation Swi tchi ng on th e Digta 420 Move the On/Off switch down to the »ON« position. When the unit is started for the first time, opt the required lan- guage provided in the menu prompt by using the navigation buttons »◄►« and confirm it with the » «button.
14 Software Insert into your pc drive the CD containing the software for admin- istration, sending of dictations and configuration information of the Digta 420.
15 Operating E asy M odE - M Enu M odE The E asy M odE serves for making the pure dictation functionality of the Digta 420 available for the author . The menu functions are in an off-state in the E asy M odE . The switchover from the E asy M odE to M Enu M odE is achieved through switching on the Digta 420.
16 Operating Create a new dictation Move the slide switch to the » STOP« position. Press the „ NEW “ button to start a new dictation. The Digta 420 will switch over to the recording pause , and the LED- indicator of the Digta 420 will flash red.
17 Move the slide switch to the » REC« position and dictate the text to be inserted. Move the slide switch to the » STOP« position at the end of the insertion process. Pre ss the le ft sele ctio n butto n » « in ord er to acc ompl ish th e proce ss.
18 Operating Select and listen to a dictation Move the slide switch to the position » STOP«. Select the desired dictation by using the navigation buttons » «. The selected dictation name will appear on the display , for example: »DICT0001«. Move the slide switch to the position »►PLA Y«.
