8 FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION CA UTION: • Alwa ys be sure that the tool is switched off and the batter y cartr idge is remov ed bef ore adjusting or checking function on the tool. Installing or removing battery cartridge • T o remove the battery car tr idge , withdraw it from the tool while pressing the buttons on both sides of the cartr idge.
9 NO TE: • The batter y charger is f or charging Makita batter y car tridge. Ne ver use it f or other pur poses or f or other manuf acturer ’ s batteries. • When you charge a ne w batter y car tridge or a batter y car tridge which has not been used for a long period of time, it ma y not accept a full charge.

11 Checking the remaining battery capacity When charging When the charging begins, the first (f ar left) indicating lamp begins to flick er . Then, as charging proceeds, the other lamps light, one after the other , to indicate the batter y capac- ity .
12 • Use the re versing s witch only after the tool comes to a complete stop . Changing the direction of rotation before the tool stops ma y damage the tool. • When not operating the tool, alwa ys set the re versing s witch lev er to the neutral position.
13 3. Release the trigger . (The indicating lamp will keep light- ing up lit f or 0.5 seconds, then the lamp will go out.) 4. Hit the tool housing preset number of first digit e xcept 0. (The indicating lamp will light up in green color . Then, the light goes out.
14 Relation between presetting number and action Indicating lamp • After impacting preset numbers, the indicating lamp lights in green color . • The red color light will light on if the trigger is pulled bef ore the presetting number of impacts is achiev ed.
15 Installing or removing soc ket T o install the socket, push it onto the an vil of the tool until it locks into place . T o remove the soc ket, simply pull it off . OPERA TION [*1] Presetting number of impacts is impossible f or more than 200 impacts (4 seconds).
16 1. When the battery car tr idge is discharged almost com- pletely , v oltage will drop and the fastening torque will be reduced. 2. S ocket • F ailure to use the correct size soc ket will cause a reduction in the f astening torque. • A worn socket (w ear on the hex end or square end) will cause a reduction in the f astening torque.
17 Use a screwdriv er to remove the brush holder caps. T ake out the worn carbon br ushes , inser t the new ones and secure the brush holder caps. T o maintain product SAFETY and RELIABILITY , repairs.
