E-21 •L inear Regression The regression f or mula f or linear regression is: y A B x . • Example: Atmospheric Pressure vs. T emperature Pe rform linear regression to deter- mine the regression f or m ula terms and correlation coefficient for the data nearb y .
E-22 • Example: Pe rfor m quadratic regression to de- ter mine the regression formula terms and correlation coefficient for the data nearby . Next, use the reg ression for- mu la to estimate the values f or ˆ y ( es- timated value of y ) for x i = 16 and ˆ x (estimated value of x ) f or y i = 20.
E-23 Formula Memory (fx- 85W) •F ormula memor y lets y ou input a single for mula in memor y , and then input v alues for the formula's v ar iables to calculate results. •M emory can hold a single f or m ula, up to 79 steps long. This function can be used in the COMP mode only .
E-24 •Y ou can use the follo wing logical operators between values in Base- n calculations: and (logical product), or (logical sum), xor (exclusive logical sum), xnor (e xclu- sive logical sum negation), Not (negation), and Neg (min us). • The following are the allowab le ranges for each of the av ailab le n umber systems.
E-25 Degrees, Min utes, Seconds Calculations •Y ou can perf or m se xagesimal calculations using deg rees (hours), min utes , and seconds, and convert between sexagesimal and decimal values . • Example 1: To con ver t the decimal value 2.258 to a sexagesimal v alue 2.
E-26 < fx-85W/ fx-85W A / fx-300W > If the above steps do not correct the prob lem, press the 5 ke y. The calculator perfor ms a self-chec k oper ation and deletes all data stored in memory if any abnormality is detected. Make sure y ou alwa ys keep written copies of all impor tant data.
E-27 Arg ERR OR •C ause •I mproper use of argument •A c tion •P ress e or r to display the location of the cause of the error and mak e required corrections. k Order of Operations Calculations are performed in the follo wing order of prec- edence.
E-28 k Po wer Supply The type of batter y you should use depends on the model num ber of y our calculator . < fx-85W/ fx-85W A / fx-300W> The TW O WA Y PO WER system actually has two pow er supplies: a solar cell and a G13 T ype (LR44) button bat- ter y .
E-29 < fx-350TL> This calculator is powered b y single G13 T ype (LR44) but- ton batter y . •R eplacing the Batter y Dim figures on the display of the calculator indicate that batter y power is low . Continued use of the calculator when the batter y is low can result in improper operation.
