E-1 English A C adaptor • Do not allow the power cord to become damaged or broken, and ne ver modify , over bend, twist, or pull it. Nev er place heavy objects on the pow er cord, and never e xpose it to direct heat. A damaged power cord creates the danger of fire and electrical shock.

E-6 Replacing Batteries A handy low battery power indicator lets you know when battery power is getting too low f or proper operation. The message “LOW BA TTERY” appears on the display if battery power is low when you perform any of the following operations.

E-8 Using a Magnetic T ape Car tridg e Precautions • Make sure that print density is set to 4 or greater for magnetic tape. • If printed tape curls, flatten it out before using it. • Keep magnetic tape away from floppy diskettes, magnetic cards, checks, and other items that can be damaged by magnetism.
E-9 • Shift indicator This indicator appears when you press the SHIFT k e y . While this indicator is on the displa y , the keyboard is shifted, so the letter k eys input upper-case alpha characters. The n umber keys input the punctuation symbols mark ed in the up- per right corners of the keys.
E-10 • Manual feed indicator This indicator appears when you are using manual feed instead of auto feed. Auto f eed is in eff ect when this indicator is not on the displa y . Important! • After you finish printing when using manual f eed, be sure to alwa ys press FUNC and then PRINT (FEED) to f eed the tape bef ore cutting it.
E-11 Part 4 Deleting and Inserting Characters This section describes everything you need to know about deleting and editing characters you have already input. Moving the Cursor Use the cursor keys to move the cursor around the display and position it for deleting and editing characters.
E-12 T o delete character s using the DEL key Example: T o change the word “commmputer” to “computer”. 1. Use H and J to move the cursor under the first (far left) “m”. 2. Press DEL twice to delete the two m’ s at the cursor’ s position, shifting “mputer” to the left as you do.
E-13 Character size changes are applied to printed te xt only . The size of the dis- played text does not change. Important! • Any character size specification you make is applied to all the characters on the display . Y ou cannot make multiple specifications f or specific characters.

It also tells you how to print special stamp tapes that you can attach to an optional stamp holder to create your own original stamps. E-17 Auto Feed Y ou can turn the Label Pr inter’ s auto f eed f eature on and off . When auto f eed is on, the Label Printer automatically feeds the tape about 19mm at the beginning and end of each print operation. This creates identical margins on both sides of your text.

E-19 P art 9 Stamp Printing The stamp printing feature lets y ou print on special stamp tape. Y ou can then attach the finished stamp tape to an optionally available stamp holder to create your own original pre-ink ed stamps. The f ollowing is the type of stamp holder currently available for use with stamp tapes.

E-21 Initializing the Label Printer If you experience serious malfunction of the Label Printer or if operation fails completely , try performing the following operation to initializ e the printer. Important! • Initializing the Label Printer deletes all memory contents.
E-22 The printer is set up for manual tape feed. Out of tape Be sure to press the FUNC FEED key before perf orming the tape cut operation. Important! When the printer is set up for manual tape feed, the tape is not fed automati- cally after printing is complete.
E-23 Label will not adhere to a surface. Possible Causes Action Page Peel the backing paper from the back of the tape to expose the adhesive. Labels do not adhere well to surfaces that are rough, wet, oily , or dir ty . The backing paper is still on the back of the tape.
E-24 Message ST AMP ERROR! * This message appears on the screen for about one second. LOW BA TTERY D A T A ERROR! Possible Causes • Y ou are attempting to print a stamp with text that is longer than 5.5cm. • Y ou are attempting to print a stamp while three lines of text are input.
