E-1 Safety Precautions Precautions During Use ● Smoke, odor, heat, and other abnormalities Should you ever n o tice smoke, strange odor, or any o ther abnormality, immediately stop us ing the projector. Continued use creates th e risk of fire and electric shock.
Safety Precautio ns E-2 ● Power cord Misuse of the power co rd creates the risk of fire and electric shock. Make sure that you alway s observe the following precautions. • Be sure to use only th e accessories that come with the projector. • Make sure that you use a power source with the same voltage as that s pecified for the projector.
E-3 Safety Precautions ● Disposal by burning Never try to dispose of the projector by burning it . Doing so can cause an explosion, which creates the risk of fire and personal injury. ● Looking into the lens or vents while light source unit is on Never look directly into th e lens or vents while light source unit is on.

The actual lif e will depend on use conditions, the settings configured on the setup menu, an d differences between each individual light source unit .

E-11 Getting Ready Important! I m p o r t a n t ! Important! z Be sure to us e alkali ne batteries only. Replacing Remote Controller Batteries Open the battery cover on the back of the remote controll er, replace the old batteri es wit h new ones, and then close the battery cover.
Getting Ready E-12 z Use a conveniently located power outlet that yo u can reach easily when you need to unplug the projector. z Do not allow any objects to be within the area indi cated by the dashed line below, which is an area within 30cm (11.8 inches ) of the projector.

E-15 Starting and Stopping Projection 1. Press the [ P ] (Power) key. z This causes the confirmation message to appear. If you do no t turn off the projector the confirmation message wi ll disappear automati cally after about 10 seco nds. The confirmation message will also disappear if you press the [ESC] key.
E-16 Using the CD-ROM The CD-ROM contains software for each projector model and PDF files with User’s Guides . In order to read the User’s Guide, you need to have Adobe ® Reader ® installed on yo ur computer. 1. Place the CD-ROM th at comes with the projector into your computer’s CD-ROM drive.
E-17 Indicators Indicators keep you informed about th e current operational status of th e projector. The following show s what the indicators look like when operation is norm al.
E-18 Troubleshooting Check the following item s wh enever you experience any pr oblem with the projector . Problem Cause and R ecommended Action Power does not turn on. z If the POWER/S TANDBY indicator is no t lit, the AC power cord is not connected correctly.
