2 INTRODUCTIO N A spotting scope is no thin g more than a tele scope that is d esigned to look around the Ea rth. Unlike as tronom ical teles copes, which p roduce inv erted or reverted imag es, spotting scop es produce cor rectly oriente d im ages.
3 GETTING ST A RTED The high mag nification of your spot ting scope m akes it v ery di fficult to handho ld and, as a result, it must be at tached to a s table platfo rm. The 102m m Wide View has a tripod adapt er block, which is loca ted on the bottom of the spott ing scope tube.

5 Removing the Len s Cover To protec t your spotting scope, the o bjective len s, focus er, and acces sories are f itted wit h protectiv e covers. Al l are tensio n-fitte d and easily rem oved by pulling off. The cov ers should be remov ed as each piec e is installed.

Changing Ey epieces You can vary the power o f your spot ting scope s imply by changing eyepieces.
8 Attaching a Camer a To attach a camera to your Wide View Spott er: 1. Remove all v isual acce ssori es. 2. Thread the pro per T- Ring onto t he built- in T-A dapter thread s at the end of the eyepiece holder. 3. Mount your cam era body onto the T- Ring the sam e as you would any other lens.
9 VISUA L OBSERVING INFOR MA TION Focusing When work ing w ith any optic al instrum ent, the re are s everal focusing hin ts tha t will ens ure that you g et the sharpest possibl e imag e. The hints lis ted here a re for visu al obse rving and photography .
10 Field of View Determ ining the fie ld of view is im portant if y ou want to get an idea of th e size of the ob ject you are obse rving . To calcu late th e actual field of v iew, div ide the app arent field of th e eyepiec e (supplied by the ey epiece m anufacturer ) by the m agnifica tion.
11 A STRONOMY WITH YOUR SPOTTING SCOPE A spotting scope is no thing m ore than a telescop e that produces cor rectly oriented im ag es. That is why all Celestron spo tting scope s are so well-suited f or looking around the Ea rth. But this in no way lim its th e spotting scope to terrest rial use.
12 Observing D eep Sky Object s Deep sky objects are s imply those objec ts outsi de the b oundaries of our so lar system . They include st ar cluste rs, plane tary nebu lae, di ffuse nebul ae, double stars, and other g alaxies outside our own Mi lky Way .
13 CARE A ND CLE ANING OF THE OPTICS Occasiona lly, dust and /or m oisture may build up on the len s of your spott ing scope. Spec ial care should be tak en when clean ing any optical ins trument s o as not to damag e the optics. If dust has b uilt up on the lens, r emov e the dust with a camel’s h air brush or a can of p ressurized air.
