18 5 Power Up the Router Checklist for Power-Up Y ou are ready to power up the Cisco router a fter you have completed the following steps: • Chassis is securely mounted and grounded. • Power and interface ca ble s are connected. • Y our PC terminal emulation program is configured for 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity .
19 Y ou may see different startup messages: • If you see the following messa ges, the router has booted with a configuration file and is ready for initial configuration using the Cisco Router and Securi ty Device Mana ger (SDM): yourname con0 is now available Press RETURN to get started.
