2 500 Series Stacka ble Managed Switches We l c o m e Thank you f or choosing the Cisco 500 S eries Stackable Managed Switch, a Cisco net work communications devic e. This devic e is designe d to be operational right out of the box as a standar d layer 2 and 3 swit ch.

8 500 Series Stacka ble Managed Switches When the switch is using the factor y default IP addr es s , the System LED flashes c ontinuously . When the switch is using a DHCP s er ver -as signe d IP address or an administrator has configured a static IP addr es s, the System LED is on solid (DHCP is enabled by default).

500 Series Stackable Managed Switches 11 T IP The default stack ports on the 500X ar e X G3/S 1 and X G4/S2. If the correct mo dule is plugged into X G3/S 1 and X G4/S2, the switch should be able t o detect the co nne ction and configure the speed acc ording t o the module capability without any manual configuration.
12 500 Series Stacka ble Managed Switches Changing the stack mode of a switch r equires a reboot of the switch. Stack Unit Mo de s Device s can operate in one of the f o llowing Stack Unit modes : •S t a n d a l o n e — The device is not conne cted t o any other device and does not have a stack port .
