39 1 Safety The safety of our appliances is in accor dance with recognised techno- logical standards and appliance safety legislation. W e nevertheless feel that it is important to acquaint yo u with the following safety guideli- nes: Use for Intended Purpose • The appli ance is intended for househ old use.
Safety 40 • Before disposing of old appliances make them inoperable. Remove plug from mains, sever the power cable, r emove or destroy any snap or latch closures. This eliminates the danger that playing children lock themselves into the appliance (dange r of suffocation!) or place them- selves into other life-endangering situations.
Safety 41 • Do not remove the power cord by pulling on its lead, particularly when the fridge/freezer is being pulled out of its niche. Damage to the cord may cause a short cir cuit, fir e and/or electric shock. • Do not place heavy articles or the fridge/freezer itself on the power cord.
42 Envir onmental Information Pa ck ag in g All tr ansit packaging materials are envir onmentally compatible and can be reused. W ood is un-tr eated. The plastics can be r ecycled and are identified as follows: >PE< for polyethylene, e.g. the ou ter covering and the bags in the interior .
43 Appliance T r ansport Two per sons are r equir ed for transport of the appliance. There ar e two recessed handles at the back of the appliance at the top for improved gripping. 0 1. Grip the appliance with the recessed handles positioned as in the draw- ing, and transport the appliance.
44 Installation Installation Location The appliance should be installed in a well ventilated, dry room. Energy use and efficient performance of the appliance is affected by the ambient temperatur e.
Installation 45 The r efrigerator/fr eezer needs ventilation Air is fed under the door through the vent slots in the base and is exhausted upwards along the back wall.
46 Electrical Connection A properly installed socket outlet wi th earthing contact is r equired for electrical connection. Electrical fuse protection must be of at least 1 0 ampere.
Reversing The Door 47 2. Unscr ew the centre door bear- ing: Open the fridge and fr eezer doors. Undo the scr ews far enough to be ab le to take the top door bearing bolt out of the freezer door . Close the freezer door . Remove the door bearing bolt from the bottom of the fridge door and close the fridge door .
Reversing The Door 48 After changing the door hinges, chec k that the magnetic seals on the doors fit perfectly against the housing and that the interior lighting goes off when the door is closed. 10. Depend ing on the model: Model with bar handle Unscrew the top handle br acket from the handle r od (1).

50 No-Fr ost-System The no-frost-s ys tem enables both the freezing of fr esh foods and the storage of r eady frozen or cooled f oods by means of cold air . A vapor- iser cools the air in the interior sp ace of the appliance, which is circu- lated and uniformly distributed by a ventilator .
51 Starting Up and Regulating the T emper ature Fridge and freezer sections can each be r egulated independently of the other . The control panel is situated behind the fridge door at the top of the fridge section. 0 1. Insert plug into mains socket. Within 20 seconds the electr onics carry out a system test and switch the appliance on.
52 2. Using a coin, set the temper ature r e quired for the fr eezer by turning the temperatur e r egulator . Select a middle position for normal opera - tion. 3. Pr ess the FROSTMA TIC button. The FROSTMATIC button will be illumi- nated in yellow and the compress or will operate continuously .
53 If the FROSTMATIC function is not ended manually , the appliance elec- tronics switch off the FROSTMA TIC function after 36 hours. The yellow illumination in the button will go off. “Open Door” W arning When the fridge or freezer door ar e open the open door warning but- ton flashes red and a warning tone is sounded.
54 Switching the Appliance Off 0 1. To switch off, hold down the ON/OFF button for approx. 3 seconds. The green illumination in the button will go off. If the appliance is not going to be used for an extended period: 0 1. Switch off the appliance by ho lding down the ON/OFF button for approx.
55 Interior Accessories Stor age Shelves The shelf in the lowest runners above the fruit and vegetable drawer is stopped with plastic corners on the back . It must always r emain in this position, so that fruit and vegetables stay fresh for longer . To r emove the stops, the plastic corners must be twisted 90° forwar ds and to the outside.
Interior Accessories 56 Fruit/V egetable Drawer (not offered in all models) On some models there is a moisture f ilter in fr ont of the shelf above the fruit and vegetable compartments. This preserves the natur al moisture co ntent of the food in the fruit and vegetable compartments for longer .
57 Corr ect stor age The cooling fans ensure an even tem- peratur e distribution in the fridge. Foods with differen t perishability can therefor e be arranged on the shelves as you like, without having to take into account the different temper atur e zones which usually occur .
58 Fr eezing War n in g! • Before foods are fr ozen, the actual temperatur e in the fr eezer compartment must be -18 °C or colder . • Please observe indicated freezing capacity on the rating plate. The freezing capacity r epresents th e maximum amount of fresh goods that can be frozen within 24 hour s.
59 Fr ozen Storage Wa rni ng ! Before initial l oading of the fr eezer compartment with previously fr ozen goods, the r equired stor age temperatur e of -18 °C must be reached.
60 Maintenance and Cleaning Before any maintenance or cleaning work i s carried out DISCONNECT the appliance from th e ELECTRICITY supply . 1 Wa rni ng ! • Do not use detergents, abrasive powder s, highly perfumed cleaning products, wax polishes or cleaning pr oducts containing bleach or alcohol.
61 2 Accumulation of dust at the conden ser increases ener gy consumption. For this reason car efully clean the condenser at the back of the appliance once a year with a so ft brush or a va cuum cleaner . 7. After everything is dry place appliance back into service.
62 Something not W orking Corr ecting Malfunctions A malfunction may be caused by only a minor fault th at you can rect ify yourself using the following instructions. Do not perform any other work on the appliance if the following information does not provide assistance in your specific case.

65 Normal Oper ating Sounds The following noises are char acteristic of refriger ation appliances: • Clicks Whenever the compressor switches on or off, a click can be hear d. • Humming As soon as the compressor is in oper ation, you can hear it humming.
66 T echnical T erminology • Refrigerant Liquids that can be used to a generate a cooling effect ar e known as refriger ants. They have a relatively low boiling-point, indeed so low , that the warmth from the food stor ed in the fridge or freezer can cause the refriger ant to boil and vaporise.
