5 W elcome to the Classé famil y Congratulations on your purchase of a Classé product. I t is the result of many years of continuous refinement, and we ar e sure that you will enjo y it for many years to come. W e value our relationship with our customers.
6 Unpac king and Placement unpacking y our CD pla y er Carefully unpack your CD player accor ding to the supplied instructions, and remo ve all accessories from the carton. Important! Keep all packing materials for future tr ansport of your Classé product.

8 w arm up/break-in period Y our new Classé CD player will deliver outstanding performance immediately . Ho wever , you should expect to hear it impro ve somewhat as it reaches its normal operating temperatures and its various components “br eak-in.

11 F r ont P anel 1 Standb y button & LED indicator The front panel S tandby button will toggle the player between its fully operational status and a standby mode that leaves the player off , yet ready to respond to system commands via any of the supported control options (e.
12 2 Menu button P ressing the front panel M enu button will call up the menu system, replacing the normal status display in the LCD touchscr een of the CDP-100. 3 LCD touchscr een M ost of your interaction with the CDP-100 will be with the front panel L CD touchscreen (and with the CDP-100’ s supplied remote control).
13 Rear P anel 1 Coaxial digital output This output provides a S/PDIF digital audio signal for use with a pr ocessor or external digital-to-analog (D/A) converter . Connect this output to a corresponding coaxial digital input on your preamplifier/processor .
14 F or this reason, we str ongly recommend using the balanced analog interconnections between your Classé components wher ever possible. The pin assignments of these XLR output connectors are: Pin 1.
15 4 IR Input and Output Y our Classé player includes two 1 / 8 th -inch mono mini-jacks in order to support the infrared (IR) remote controls that ar e ubiquitous today . Infrared commands exist (for example) for toggling the play er between oper ate and standby , in addition to discrete command codes for either oper ate or standby .
16 The remote T rigger In will respond to the presence of 5–12VDC, with tip polarity as shown belo w: Similarly , T rigger Out will create a 12VDC signal that can source up to 100mA of current.
17 T he Remote Contr ol Y our new CD player comes with a versatile remote control which can control both the CDP-100 itself and several aspects of the rest of a Classé-based system. The keys are arranged in logical groups accor ding to their functions.
18 3 Navigation K e ys The central section of the remote control contains the navigation keys. This array of keys is similar to what you may have seen on remote contr ols for DVD play ers, and is used for navigation of the menu system of the CDP-100.
19 • (previous) will mo ve backwar d through the tracks (or the playlist, if you have created one), one track at a time. As with most CD players, the single exception to this is the first time y ou press the key , which will take to the beginning of the track currently playing.
20 T he Menu System Y our CDP-100 includes a versatile touchscreen LCD display which supports both an attractive information display and a flexible menu system. While its use is quite intuitive, it is also quite extensive. This section of the owner’ s manual outlines the many capabilities found in the menu system.

22 main menu system P ressing the M enu button to the left of the LCD touchscr een brings up a comprehensive main menu system, the top two levels of which ar e shown abo ve. This menu system provides access to many installation-specific featur es that let you customize ho w the CDP-100 works within the context of your particular system.
23 displa y setup This button brings up the display setup menu. This menu is detailed below , immediately before the corresponding menu illustration. (I t allows y ou to configure the CDP-100’ s L CD screen brightness, the display timeout, and the language used in the touchscreen and menu system.
24 displa y setup menu The display setup menu, described in the following pages, allows y ou to define your prefer ences for three aspects of the CDP-100’ s LCD display: the brightness of the backlighting, the timeout of the backlighting, and the language used.
25 language The language menu offers you any of six different languages supported by the CDP-100. Classé have pro vided our international distributors with a software tool that makes it possible for .
26 T r oubleshooting In general, refer any service problems to your Classé dealer . Before contacting your dealer , however , check to see if the problem is listed here. I f it is, tr y the suggested solutions. If none of these solves the problem, contact y our Classé dealer .

T he screen sho ws an err or message and the Load button does not eject the disc (or the pla y er shows some other anomalous behavior). • P ress the S tandby button so the screen dims and the blue light goes on. • U sing the rear panel po wer switch , turn off the unit for at least thirty seconds.
28 Car e and Maintenance cleaning the cabinet T o remov e dust from the cabinet of your CD player , use a feather duster or a soft, lint-free cloth. T o remo ve dirt and fingerprints, we recommend isopropyl alcohol and a soft cloth. Dampen the cloth with alcohol first and then lightly clean the surface of the CD player with the cloth.
