ENWW What is an embedded Web server? 1 1 Overview What is an embedded Web server? A Web server pro vides an environment in which Web progr ams can run, in much the same way that an operating system, such as Microsoft® Windows®, provides an environment in which programs ca n run on yo ur comp uter.
2 Overview ENWW Features You can use the HP Embedded Web Server to view product and network status and to manage printing functions from your comp uter, rather than at the product control panel. With the HP Em bed ded Web Server, you can perform these tasks: ● View control-panel messages a nd product-status inform ation.
ENWW System requirements 3 System requirements In order to use the HP Embedded Web Serv er, you must have the following components: ● One of the following Web browsers in this list ( but not limited to) insta lled on your computer: ● A supported Web br owser.
4 Overview ENWW To log in as an administrator Use the followin g proced ure to log in to the HP EWS as an administrato r. 1 After you open the EWS, click the Log In link in the upper-right corn er of the screen. The Enter Network Password dialog box appears, as show n in the following illustration.

8 Viewing prod uct status from the I nformation screens ENWW Device Status Use the Device Status screen to view the current status of th e product. The following illustration and table describe how to use this screen.
ENWW Device Status 9 Media Shows the status and configuration informatio n for the input trays and output bins. Change Settings Opens the Other Setti ngs screen, where you can change the paper-type settings. Capabilities Lists components that are installed in the prod uct.
10 Viewing product status from the Information screens ENWW Configuration Page Use the Configuration Page scre en to view cu rrent product settings, help tro ubleshoot printer problems, and verify the installa tion of optional accessories such as dual inline memo ry modules (DIMMs) or paper-handling devices.

12 Viewing product status from the Information screens ENWW Supplies Status The Supplies Status screen shows more detailed supplies information and provides part numbers for genuine HP su pplies. (It is helpful to have the par t numbers available when orderi ng supplies.
ENWW Event Log 13 Event Log The Event Log shows the most recent product ev e nts, including jams, service errors, and other printer errors. The following illustration and table describ e how to use this screen.
14 Viewing product status from the Information screens ENWW Usage Page The Usage Page screen g ives a page count for each size of medi a that ha s passed through the product, as well as the num ber o f duple xed pag es. The total is calculated by multiplying the sum of the print count values by the Units value.
ENWW Device Information 15 Device Information The Device Information scr een shows the product name, asset number , company name, contact person, product locatio n, and the product's IP address, name, model, and serial number .
16 Viewing product status from the Information screens ENWW Control Panel For products that have a control panel, t he Con trol Panel screen shows the product control-panel display as if you were standing at the product. Because th is view shows the product status, it can help you tr oubleshoot pr oblems with the product.
ENWW Print 17 Print You can use this screen to print on e file at a ti me from a produ ct that supports the HP Embedded Web Server. This feature is especially useful if you are a mobile user, because you do not have to install the product’s printer dr iver in order to print—you can print anywhere at any time.
18 Viewing product status from th e Information screens ENWW Printing a file from the Print screen Use the following steps to print a file from the Print screen. 1 Select the file that you wa nt to print by using one of the following o ptions: • Click the button under Option 1 to browse to a file that yo u want to print.

ENWW E-mail Server 21 Using the menus on the Configure Device screen The following procedure is pro vided only as an example. Similar procedures ca n be used to set other menu items. Follow these steps to select a different default paper size (example proced ure).

ENWW Alerts 23 Alerts From the Alerts screen, IT administrators ca n set up the product to send problem and status alerts to anyone through e- mail messages. Wh en this function is configured, alerts are automatically triggered abou t supplies and paper- path status, as well as for service and advisory information.

ENWW Alerts 29 3 The return address is the pr oduct’s e-mail address. Type your e-mail address in the Return Address bo x if you would like to receive messages abou t any errors that are generated from the test alert (for example, to be notif ied of an incorrect destination address).

These links appear throughout the HP Embedded Web Serv er screens, in the Other Links box beneath the left navigation al bar.

ENWW Wake Ti me 39 Wake Time An IT administrator can use the Wake Time screen to schedule product wakeups on a daily basis. For example, the produ ct can be set to wa ke up at 07:30, so the product has finishe d initializing and calibrating and is ready to use by 08:00.
