1 Product Features HP LCD Monitors The LCD (liquid crystal display) monitors have an ac tive matrix, thin-film tran sistor (TFT) pan el. The monitor models and feature s include: ● LA1905wg model, 48 .

2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If anot her cord is used, use only a power source and connection appr opriate for this moni tor. For information on th e correct power cord set to use with th e monitor, r efer to the Power Cord Set Requirements o n page 40 in Appendix C.
Maintenance Guidelines To enhance th e performance an d extend the life of the monito r: ● Do not open th e monitor cabinet or attempt to service this product yourself.
3 Setting Up the Monitor To set up the monitor, en sure that the power is turned off to the mon itor, computer system, and other attached devices, then foll ow the instructions below. Unfolding the Monitor Pedestal Base 1. Lift the monitor from its box and place it face d own on a flat surface.

Connecting the Cables 1. Place the monitor in a convenient, well-ventilated location near the computer. NOTE: Before connecting the ca bles, route them throug h the opening on the monito r's pedestal. 2. Connect a VGA sign al cable, DVI-D signal cable, or DisplayPort signal cable.
WARNING! To reduce th e risk of electric shoc k or damage to th e equipment: Do not disable the power cord gro unding plug. T h e ground ing plug is an important safety fe ature. Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) ele ctrical outlet that is ea sily accessible at all times.

Adjust the monitor's height so that it is parallel to your eye height for a comfortable viewing position. NOTE: When the monitor is unfolded for the first ti me, the display head is locked fro m adjusting to a full-height position .
CAUTION: If the monitor is not in full height and fu ll tilt position wh en pivoting, the bo ttom right corner of the moni tor panel will come in contact with the ba se and potentially cau se damage to the moni tor.

Removing the Monitor Pedestal Base You can remove the monito r panel from the pedestal b ase to install the panel on a wall , a swing arm, or other mountin g fixture. CAUTION: Before beginning to disassemble the m onitor, be sure the monitor is turned off and the power and signal cable s are both discon nected.
Mounting the Monitor The monitor pane l can be attached to a wall, swing a rm, or other moun ting fixture. NOTE: This apparatus is intend ed to be sup porte d by UL or CSA Listed wall moun t bracket. 1. Remove the monitor p anel from the pedestal ba se.
Locating the Rating Labels The rating labels on th e monitor provide the spare part number, pro duct number, and serial numb er. You may need these nu mbers when contacting HP about the mon itor model. The ra ting labels are located on the re ar panel of the monitor d isplay head.
4 Operating the Monitor Software and Utilities The CD that comes with the monitor contain s files you can install on the computer: ● an .INF (Information) file ● an .ICM (Ima ge Color Ma tching) file ● auto-adjustment pattern utility ● additional software for the monitor model NOTE: If the monitor does not include a CD, the .
Installing the .INF and .ICM Files After you dete rmine that you need to update, you can install the .INF and .ICM file s from the CD or download them. Installing from the CD To install the .INF and .ICM file s on the co mputer from the CD: 1. Insert the CD in the com puter CD-ROM drive.
Using the Auto-Adjustment Function You can optimize the screen performance for th e VGA (analog) input b y using the OK/auto button on the monitor and the au to-adjustment pa ttern software ut ility on the CD pr ovided. Do not use this procedur e if the monitor is using a DVI or Dis playPort i nput.

Adjusting the Monitor Settings The monitor settings can be adjusted fro m the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu or from the HP Displa y Assistant utility. NOTE: If there is a proble m with the display settings, try rese tting the settings to the factory defaults by opening the O SD and selecting F actory Re set from the O SD menu.
OSD Menu Selections The following table lists the On-Scre en Display (OSD ) menu selections and their fu nctional descripti ons. After changing an OSD menu item, and if the menu screen has the se options, you may choose to : ● Cancel —to return to the previous menu level.
Icon Main Menu Submen u Description Sharpness (non-native modes) Adjusts the screen image to look sharper or so ft. Dynamic Contrast Ratio Turns Dynamic Contrast Ratio On or Off. The factory default is Off. OSD Control Provides a menu for adjusting the on-scr een display (OSD) controls.
Icon Main Menu Submenu Description Monit or Stat us Displays the operating status of the monitor each time the monitor is powered on. Select the location to display the status to: ● Top ● Middle ● Bottom ● Off The factory default is Top.
Icon Main Menu Submen u Description Factory Reset R eturns all OSD menu settings and DDC /CI controls to the factory default settings, except the Language. Source Control Selects the video input signal. DP (DisplayPort) is the factory default. DP Selects DP (DisplayPort) as the video input signa l.
Using the HP Display Assistant Utility HP Display Assistant, included on the software and documentation CD, is a soft ware utility that guides you through the tuning process with easy to underst and instru ctions and back g round patterns designe d for each monitor control.
● OSD Lockout —The OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holdin g the Menu button on the front pane l for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, th e warning message OSD Locko ut displays for ten seconds. ◦ If the OSD is locked , press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to unlock the OSD.
6. Press the - (Minus) or + (Plus) button to adjust the hour. 7. Press the OK button again to en te r the time for minutes. 8. Press the - (Minus) or + (Plus) button to ad just the minutes. 9. Press the OK button to lock in the time chosen. 10. After setting the current time, the highlight automatically skips to Set Sleep Time .
Select This Option To Do This Activity Extension Sets the time in minutes before the monitor turns off if there is any keyboard or m ouse activity after the Display Off time is reached. If the keyboard or mouse is used, then HP Display LiteSaver waits until the set amount of time before turning the display off again.
3. Select the Color Mana gement tab, then click the Add button to open the Add Profile Associa tion dia log box. 4. Select the sRGB Color Space Profil e.icm file, then click the Add button 5. To activate a color profile for the monitor, you must set it as the Default Monitor Profile.
A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following table lists possible prob lems, the po ssible cause of each problem, and the recommended solutions. Problem Possible Cause Solution Screen is blan k. Power cord is disconnected. Connect the power cord.
