2 LIMITED W ARRANTY ON CRAFTSMAN POWERED TRACTOR A TT ACHMENTS For one (1) year from the date of purchase, if this Craftsman Equipment is maintained, lubricated and tuned up according to the instructions in the owner's manual, Sears will repair or replace free of charge any parts found to be defective in material or workmanship.
3 I. GENERAL OPERA TION • Read, understand and follow all instructions in the manual and on the machine before starting. • Read this operator's manual carefully . Become familiar with the controls and know how to operate your mower properly .
4 III. CHILDREN T ragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Children are often attracted to the machine and the mowing activity . Never assume that children will remain where you last saw them. • Keep children out of the mowing area and under the watchful care of another responsible adult.

6 REMOVING UNIT FROM CRA TE • Remove top boards. • Remove two Bolts from front of crate which hold shipping anchors. • Remove two Bolts from bottom at rear of crate which hold shipping anchors. • Remove Hitch Assembly and Parts Bag from crate.
7 INST ALL THE WIRE HARNESS AND THE ON/OFF SWITCH • Slide the Wire Harness under the Cable Anchor of the Hitch Assembly . • Connect two 1/4 Female Spade Connectors from the Wire Harness to the prongs of the ON/OFF Switch.

10 CAUTION: Never operate the mower without discharge chute cover in its proper place..

13 IMPORT ANT : Avoid prolonged mowing of ditches with slopes greater than 15 degrees. Small engines become starved for oil at angles greater than 15 degrees and should only be used for brief periods on such slopes. Be sure the engine is tilled to the maximum oil level when mowing on slopes.
14 MAINTENANCE LUBRICA TION ENGINE MAINTENANCE IMPORT ANT : Do not oil or grease piv ot points. Viscous lubricants will attract dust and dir t that can cause wear on piv ot points. If you f eel they must be lubricated, use only a dr y powdered graphite type lubricant.
15 BLADE CARE • For best results, mower blade must be kept sharp. The blades can be sharpened with a few strokes of a file or on a grinding wheel. Do not attempt to sharpen blades while blades are on mower . • T o remove blade for sharpening, use wooden block to hold blade while removing the blade mounting nut.
16 SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS REP AIR P ARTS Y our rotary mower has been produced with components designed for your unit. Although standard V -belts, bearings, blades pulleys etc. may look like the parts used on your rotary mower , many are of a different construction and could in some cases cause the mower to malfunction.

18 CAUTION: Never cover mower while engine and exhaust are still warm. Cover may ignite, causing a fire. CAUTION: Never store a mower with gasoline in it's tank inside a building where fumes may reach an open flame or spark. Allow the engine to cool before storing in any enclosure.
