9 BATTERY INSTALLATIO N WARNING : To avoi d electric shock, disconnect the test leads fro m any source of voltage before removing the battery doo r. 1. Disconnect the test leads from th e meter. 2. Remove the protective rubber ho lster (if installed).
10 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS WARNING : Risk of electrocutio n. High-voltage circuits, both AC and DC, are very dangerous and should be measured with great care.
1 1 AC VOL T AGE MEASUREMENTS WARNING: Risk of Electroc ution. The probe tips may not be lo ng enough to contact the live p arts inside some 240V outlets for appliances because the contacts ar e recessed deep in the outlets . As a result, the reading ma y show 0 volts when the outlet actually has voltage on it.
12 DC CURRENT ME ASUREMENTS CAUTION: Do not make current measurements on the 10A scale for longer than 30 seconds. Exceedin g 30 seconds may cause damage to the meter and/or the test leads. 1. Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative (COM) jack.
13 RESISTANCE ME ASUREMENTS WARNING: To avoid e lectric shock, disconnect power to the unit unde r test and discharge all capacitors before taki ng any resistance measurements. Remove the batt eries and unplug the line c ords. 1. Set the function switch to the hig hest $# position.
14 DIODE TEST 1. Insert the black test lead banana plug into the negative COM jack and the red te st lead banana plug into the positive diode j ack. 2. Turn the rotary switch to the / •))) positi on. 3. Touch the test probes to the diode under te st.
15 MAINTENANCE WARNING : To avoid electric shock, disconnect the test leads from any source of voltage before removing the back cover or the battery or fuse doors. WARNING: To avoid elect ric shock, do not operate your meter u ntil the battery and fuse doors are in plac e and fastened sec urely.
16 REPLACING THE B ATTERIES WARNING : To avoi d electric shock, disconnect the test leads fro m any source of voltage before removing the battery doo r. 1. When the batteries become exhaus ted or drop below the operating voltage, “BAT” will appear in the ri ght-hand side of the LCD dis play.
