Because a pruner is a high-speed wood-cutting tool, special safety precau- tions must be observed toreduce the risk of accidents. Careless or improper use of this tool can cause serious or even fatal injury.
• Avoid dangerous situations. Do not use in presence of flammable liquids or gases toavoid creating a fire or explosion and/or causing damage to unit. • Avoid dangerous environments. Do not use in unventilated areas or where dust or explosive vapors can build up.
• Use only recommended CraftsmanCR_ parts and accessories. • Be sure chain stops moving when engine idles (see CARBURETOR AD- JUSTMENT section ofpowerhead manual). • Keep others away when making car- buretor adjustments. • Never start the unit with the clutch housing removed.
• Never let the moving chain contact any object at the tip of the guide bar. • Keep the working area free from ob- structions such as other trees, branches, rocks, stumps, etc. Elimi- nate or avoid any obstruction that your chain could hit while you are cutting.

SHOULDER STRAP ASSEMBLY WARNING: Proper shoulder strap and handle adjustments are re- quired before use. The shoulder strap clamp must be installed as shown above the assist handle on the upper shaft (powerhead end of unit). NOTE: The lower shoulder strap clamp has two spacer tabs attached.

Primary Hole Coupler ' Guide Recess Locking/ Upper Release Attachment Shaft Button 3. Push the attachment into the cou- pler until the locking/release button snaps into the primary hole. 4. Before using the unit, tighten the knob securely by turning clock- wise.

Watch out for branches that are bent or under pressure. Avoid being struck by the branch or the pruner when the ten- sion in the wood fibers is released.
