9 IGNITION SWITCH To start the engine , insert k ey into the igniti on switc h and turn clock wise to the START po sitio n. Rele ase key to t h e ON position o nce en gine ha s f ired. Se e Figure 4. 10 LIFT LEVER The lift lever is used to change the operating pos ition (height ) of the cutting deck . To operate, move the lever to the left, then place in the notch best su ited for you r applic ation . ELECT RIC PT O (PO WER T AKE-OFF) KNOB T o en gage the power to th e cutting deck or other att achme nts, pul l outward on th e PTO knob .
11 CR UISE CONTROL B UT T ON The cruis e control button is loca ted on the tr actor dash pa nel to the left of the ign ition swit ch. Pus h the cruis e control b utton wh ile t raveling forward at a desir ed speed. WHIL E HOLDING THE BUTTON I N, relea se pressur e from the driv e pedal.
12 SETTING THE CUTTING HEIGHT Select the he ight p osition of the cu tting deck by placin g the d eck li ft leve r in a ny of the six differen t cutting hei ght notche s on the right side of the fender .
13 SETTING THE CR UISE CONTR OL NOTE: The c ruise c ontr ol featu re shoul d only be utilized i n the fo rward di rectio n. • Move the sh ift lever into ei ther the FORWARD — Hi or FORWA RD — Lo position , then sl owly depress the d rive pe dal until the desir ed spe ed is ac hieved.
14 • Pull the P TO knob outwar d into the eng aged (ON) pos ition. S ee Figur e 7. • Keep the t hrottle lever in the FAS T (rabbit) positi on for the m ost ef ficient us e of th e cutting deck and other atta chmen ts. • The operat or mus t remain in the t racto r seat at all times .
15 • Loosen th e two ja m nuts on the rear si de of th e deck s tabil izer brac ket. Se e Figu re 8A. • Locate the two lo ck nuts on the opposit e side of the stabil izer bra cket. See F igure 8A. Tighten the lo ck nuts to rai se the fr ont of t he deck; loosen th e lock n uts to lowe r the fro nt of the deck.
16 NOTE: Be cer tain that the left roller bra cket and the righ t roller b racket ar e set in th e same po sitio n. SEA T ADJ USTMENT To adjus t the posit ion of the seat, m ove the seat adjustm ent lev er (locate d under the se at) to the le ft and sli de the sea t forwa rd or ba ckwards .
17 BRAKE ADJUSTMENT If the t ractor doe s not come to a c omplet e stop when the brak e pedal is comp letely d epresse d, or i f the tractor ’ s r ear wheel s can roll with the par king br ake applied , the br ake is in n eed of a djust ment. The brake disc ca n be found on the r ight side of the transm issi on in th e re ar o f the t ractor .
18 CLEANING THE ENGINE AND DECK Any fue l or oil spil led on the machine sho uld be wiped off promptl y. Do NOT allo w grass , lea ves, an d dirt to accumu late ar ound the c ooling f ins of t he engin e or on any ot her part of the mach ine, especi ally the pulle ys an d other m oving parts.
19 • Move the lift lever into the top notc h on th e right fen der to raise th e deck l ift arms ou t of the way. • Gently s lide the cuttin g dec k toward the fron t of the trac tor allow ing the ho oks on the deck to rel ease t hemse lves fr om the deck s tabil izer rod.

21 Upper Drive Belt • Locate the tr ansm ission idler pul ley on th e upper d rive belt by lookin g throu gh the b attery tray o pening. Se e Figur e 17. • Pivot t he tra nsmiss ion idl er pulle y towa rd the rear of th e tractor to re lease tensio n on the upper d rive be lt.
22 The drive ped al is proper ly adjus ted when the hol e found in th e double idle r brack et has approxi mately 1-3/8" of tra vel with ten pounds of pr essure a pplie d to the dr ive pedal .
23 TIRES The recomm ended op erating tir e press ure is approx imately 1 0 psi fo r the rear tires an d 10 psi for the fron t tires. Re fer to the tire s idewall for ex act tire manufact urer ’ s re comme nded psi. Do no t ove rinf lat e. Un even tire pressure could cause the cutting deck to mow unev enly.
