4 SAFETY PRECA UTIONS A. General 1. Read this Ope rator’ s Manual before star ting the mower . Study the controls and lear n the proper sequenc e of operati on. 2. Do not allow any one to operate or mainta in this mach ine who has not read thi s manual.

7 OPERA TING INSTR UCTIONS A. Controls 1. Engine Ignition and Star t Switch: (See Figure 1. ) Loca ted on th e instr ument housing below th e r ig ht side of the operator’ s seat. When the key is inser t ed and tur ned clo ckwise, 45 degrees, the ignitio n circu it is cl osed.
8 Note: The Stee ring Leve r will ret urn toward neutr al when release d, but they should be pla ced in neutra l by the driver . If th e Drive Handl es are not place d in neutr al, the tr actor ma y creep. 4. Elect ric Bla de Clutch Swit ch: (See F igure 1.

11 c. If the dime nsion at the f ront of the mowing de ck is 1/8"-3/ 8" lower than the dimensi on at the rea r of the de ck on each si de of th e mower , do not adjus t. If not, you will need to adjus t the ferrule dis - tance on the Deck Lift S pri ng Assist (Se e Figure 5 ).

Rem ov e th e linchpins on the left and r i ght rear side of t he cut ter deck (2); rem ov e th e linchpi ns on the left an d r ight fro nt side o f the cu tter deck (2); and r emove the linchpins on the fr ont of th e mower (2).
16 a. Se t the par king brake . b . Clean any debr is from the blades. K eep blades shar p and free of build u p at all ti mes. c. Shar pen blades ev enly at the o rig inal 30 ° angle to ma intain balanced cutting blades. Do n ot sha r pen t he unde rside of the blades.
17 5. Changing the Spindle Assembly a. Remove the dec k cover . b . Remove the dr ive belts . (See 4. Ch ang- ing Bl ade Dr ive Belt s.) c. Remov e the cutter blade . (See 2. Changing a Blad e.) d. Using a wren ch or sock et rachet remov e from the cov er plate a ll six he x nuts, the three car riage bo lts and the three he x head cap screws.
18 e. P our h ydraulic oil in to the r eser voir up to the l owest hole in the oil ta nk fil l neck, if nec essa r y . 2. Dra ining Hydraulic Oil Used h ydraulic oil must be disposed of properly . Do not pour it down a drain or sew er , or dump it on open land, this creates an environm ental hazard.

Electric PT O Clut ch: This clutch o perates when the engin e is run ning, the op erator is in the ope rator’ s se at and the blade clutch switch is tur ne d on.This electr ic clutch is a f ai rly trou ble free de v ice. If a p roblem de v elops and the blades do no t tur n, fi rst ch eck the 7.
23 ground. Loos en and remove the locknut from the ax le asse mbly and pull t he axle a ssembly from the caste r yok e. The wheel and two spacer slee v es will drop free.
24 Note: If you wish to move the mower by pushin g, you must release the dynamic br ak- ing . Loca te th e l ever s at th e rear of th e mo wer . Pull bo th levers ou t and lo ck in posit ion. A fter pushin g the mower to the desir ed locat ion, return b oth levers to the operat ing pos ition (See ph oto at right ).

27 G. Stora ge 1. Gene ra l: If y our mo wer will not be in ser vice for a f ew months , it should be s tored in a dr y location that is not su bject to drastic changes in temperatu re. Bef ore stor ing, the following maintenan ce procedure s sho uld be perfor med.
28 e. Pu sh the mower outdo ors and star t the engine. Let t he engin e idle until it has warm ed u p complet ely ( 4 to 5 m in- utes). MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE A. Da il y Chec ks 1. Before star ting engine: a. Che c k the fue l le v el. b . Check the engin e oil lev el .
