4 26. Your machine is designed to cut normal residential grass of a height no more than 10”. Do n ot attempt to mow through unusually tall, dry grass (e.g., pa sture) or piles of dry leaves. Dry grass or leaves may contact the engine exhaust and/or build up on the mower deck presenting a potential fire hazard.
5 SERVICE SAFE HANDLING OF GASOLINE: 1. To avoid personal in jury or property damage use extreme care in handling gasoline. Gasoline is extremely flammable an d the vapors are explosive . Serious personal injury can occur whe n gasoline is spilled on yourself or your clothes which can ignite.

8 SECTION 3: TRACTOR SET-UP Gas and Oil Fill-up The gasoline tank is locat ed under the fender and has a capacity of three gallons. Unthread th e fuel cap by turning it counterclockwise .

10 Thro tt l e C on t rol L eve r The throttle control lever is locat ed on the left side of the tractor’s dash panel. This lever controls the speed of the engine. When set in a given position, the throttle will maintain a uniform engine speed. See Figure 2.
11 Hour Meter Located in the ce nter of the tracto r’s console, th e hour meter operates whene ver the engine is runn ing and records the actual hours of tractor oper ation. See Figure 4. 12 Seat Adjustment Lever To adjust the seat forwar d or backward, slide the seat adjustment lever to the left and reposition the seat to the desired position. Once a co mfortable position is found, release the seat ad justment lever to lock the seat in place.

14 • To travel FORWARD, slowly depr ess the upper portion of the drive peda l forward until the desired speed is achieved. See Figur e 6. Figure 6 • To travel in REVERSE, check that the area behind is clear then slowly depress th e lower portion of the drive pedal with the ball of your foot (NOT your heel) until the desired speed is achieved .
15 Moving The T ractor Manually Your tractor’s transmission is equipped with a hydrostatic relief valve fo r occasions when it is necessary to move the tract or manually. Opening this valve permits the fluid in t he transmission to bypass its normal route, allowing the rear tires to "freewheel.
16 SECTION 6: MAKING ADJUSTMENTS WARNING: Ne ver attempt to mak e any adjustments while the engine is running, e xcept where specified in the oper ator’ s manual . Leveling the Deck NOTE: Check the tractor’s tire pressure before performing any deck levelin g adjustments.
17 P a rking Brake Adjustment WARNING: Never attempt to adjust the brakes while the engine is running. Always disengage PTO, stop engine an d remove key to prevent unintended startin g.
18 SECTION 7: MAINTAINING YOUR LAWN TRACTOR NOTE: Refer to Maintenance Chart on page 24 f or a reference of recommended maintenance intervals. WARNING: Before performing any maintenance or repairs, disen gage PTO, set parking brake, stop eng ine and remove key to prevent unintended starting.
19 Deck Spindles Grease fittings can be found on the top of each deck spindle shaft. See Figure 14 . Lubricate with 251H EP grease or an equivalent No. 2 multi-purpose lithium grease. Using a grease gun, apply two strokes (minimum) or sufficient grea se to flush old grease and dirt out of the spindle sh aft.
20 • Place a block of woo d between the cen ter deck housing baffle and the cutting bla de to act as a stabilizer. See Figure 16. Figure 16 • Use a 1-1/8" wrench to remo ve the hex flange nut that secures the blade to the spindle assembly. See Figure 16.
21 Fuse A fuse is installed in your tractor’s wiring harness to protect the tractor’s electrical system from damage caused by excessive amperage. If the electrical system does not function, or your tractor’s engine will not crank, first check to be certain that the fuse has not blown.
22 Figure 18 Figure 19 Changing The T ransmission Driv e Belt NOTE: An air/impact wrench is needed to remove the electric PTO and properly r eplace the drive belt. All belts on your tractor are sub ject to wear and should be replaced if any signs of wear are presen t.
23 IMPORT ANT : Note the routing of the lower driv e belt around all the pulleys and the belt keepers (if present) BEFORE performing the following steps.
24 Hydrostatic T ransmission The hydrostatic transmission is sealed at the factory and is maintenance free. The fluid level cannot be checked nor can the oil be changed. Always keep the area around the tr ansmission cooling fan free of grass and debris at all times.
