8 © 2008 Directed Electronics- All rights reserved. Using your system The buttons used in the instructions in this manual correspond to the standard con fig u ra tion. Remember , this is not the only way your trans mit ter may be set up. It can be custom configured to meet your needs.

14 © 2008 Directed Electronics- All rights reserved. ➢ Silent mode T o temporarily turn of f the arm or disarm chirps, use Silent Mode™. Press for less than one second before arming or disar ming, and the confirmation chirp(s) will be eliminated for that one op er- a tion only .

The status LED lights solidly if you are en ter ing V alet Mode, and goes out if you are exiting V alet Mode.
16 © 2008 Directed Electronics- All rights reserved. If the bypassed sensor tries to trigger the system while it is being bypassed, the 60-minute bypass period will star t over . This en- sures that a sensor that continually triggers will remain bypassed.

Diagnostics The microprocessor at the hear t of your security system is constant- ly mon i tor ing all of the switches and sensors that are connected to it. It detects any faulty switches and sensors and prevents them from disabling the entire system.
18 © 2008 Directed Electronics- All rights reserved. ➢ Disarming diagnostics Extra disarm chirps are the T amper Alert. If four chirps are heard when disarming, the system was triggered in your absence. If five chirps are heard, a zone was triggered so many times that Nui sance Prevention ® Circuitr y has bypassed that zone.
19 © 2008 Directed Electronics - All rights reserved. ➢ T able of zones The zone number is the number of LED flashes used by the system to identify that input. The standard input assignments are listed below , along with spaces to write in any optional sensors or switches you have had installed.
20 © 2008 Directed Electronics- All rights reserved. Code hopping The receiver and transmitters each use mathematical formulas called al go rithms to change their codes each time the transmit- ter is used. This technology has been developed to increase the security of the unit.
21 © 2008 Directed Electronics - All rights reserved. High frequency Y our system transmits and receives at 434 MHz, using a super- hetrodyne XR+ receiver . This provides a cleaner spec trum with less inter ference and a more stable signal. Enjoy a phe nom e nal increase in range – even in areas with high radio in ter fer ence.

25 © 2008 Directed Electronics - All rights reserved. Comfort closure: T o close the vehicles windows after remote • locking. Can only be used on cars with the capability of closing windows (and on some cars the sunroof) with the key cylinder in the door .
26 © 2008 Directed Electronics- All rights reserved. Siren tones and chirp volume: The output of the Revenger • ® Soft Chirp ® siren consists of six different tones in sequence. Any of these tones can be elim i nat ed by your dealer , re sult- ing in a unique, easily iden ti fi able siren sound.
27 © 2008 Directed Electronics - All rights reserved. V ehicle Recovery System (VRS) The optional VRS ® feature is designed to en sure that any un au- tho rized user of your vehicle (even if using your keys and remote control) will not be able to per ma nent ly separate you from your vehicle.
28 © 2008 Directed Electronics- All rights reserved. ➢ Arming the VRS T o arm the VRS ® , turn the ignition to the ON position and press the arm button on the remote transmitter for one second. The parking lights will flash and the siren will chirp once.

It is impor tant to recognize and identify the VRS trigger sequence and know how to disarm it in case of ac ci den tal activation.
31 © 2008 Directed Electronics - All rights reserved. Glossary of terms Control Unit : The “brain” of your system. Usually hidden un- der the dash area of the vehicle. It houses the microprocessor which monitors your vehicle and controls all of the system’ s functions.
32 © 2008 Directed Electronics- All rights reserved. Siren: Noise generating device usually installed in the engine com part ment of the vehicle. It is responsible for generating the “chirps” you hear , as well as the six tones you hear while the alarm is triggered.
