3 About Y our New Labelmak er Wi th your new DYMO L etra T ag® labelmaker , you can cr eate a wide variety of high- quality , self-adh esive labels. Y ou can choose to print your labels in many different siz e s and st yles. The labelmaker uses DY MO Letra T ag (L T ) 12 mm label cassettes .
4 T o insert the batteries 1. Remove the batt er y compar tment cover . S ee Figure 2. 2. Inser t the batteries following the polarity markin gs (+ and –). 3. Replace the cov er . Remove the batteries if the labelmaker will not be used for a long period of time.
5 Inser ting the Label Cassette Y our labelmak er comes with one label cassette. V isit www .d ym o .c o m for information about pu rchasing additional label cassettes. T o insert the label c assette 1. Press and release the label cas set te cover to o pen the lab el compar tment.
6 Selec ting a Language The first time you turn on the power , you are asked to select your desired language. By default, the languag e is set to English. The language option you choose determines the c haracter set and date for mat t hat a re avail abl e.
7 The default date is displa yed. 3. Use the left or r ight arrow k ey to move the cu rsor over each setting (month , day , and year) and use the up or down arro w keys to incr ease or decrease the value. 4. When finished , press .The default ti me is displayed .
8 Getting to Know the Labelmaker Become familiar with the location of the feature and function keys on your labelmaker . Refer to Figure 1 on the inside front cov er . The following sect ions describe each fe ature in detail. Power The button turns the power on and off .
9 CAPS Mode The key toggles capitalization on or off . When CAPS mode is turned on, th e CAPS mode indicator is shown on the display a nd all letters that you enter will be capit alized. T he default settin g is CA PS mode on. When CAPS mode is off, all lett ers ap pear in lower case.
10 Cancel The key allows you t o exit from a menu without making a selection or to canc el an action. Settings The key disp lays the font siz e, style, and bor ders submenus. These formatting features are described later in this User Guide. Inser t The key a ll ow s yo u t o in se r t symbols, a second line, or the date on your label .
11 Changing the F ont Size Five font siz es are available for y our labels : Extra Sm all , Small , Med ium, Large , and Extra Larg e . When you select a size , that size ap plies to all charac ters on a label. T o set the font siz e 1. Press the ke y.
12 T o set the font style 1. Press . 2. Use the up or down arrow key t o s elect Style and press . 3. Use the up or down arrow k ey to selec t a font style a nd press . Creating T wo-Line L abels Y ou can print a maximum of t wo lines o n labels. T o create a tw o -line label 1.
13 Adding Bo x and Under line S tyles Y ou can highlight your text by choosing a box or under line style. A label can be unde r lined or enclosed in a box, but not both toge ther. T o add an underline or box style 1. Press . 2. Select Borders, and press .
14 Using S ymbols and S pecial Charac ters Symbols and other special characters can be added to your labels. Adding Symbols The labelmak er su pports the extended symbol set shown below .
15 T o insert a symbol 1. Press , select Sym bols , and press . The first ro w of symbols shown in the table appears in the display . 2. Use the arrow keys to mov e to the d esired symbol. T h e left and right arr ows move horiz ontally along a r ow of symbols.
16 Printing Options Y ou can preview yo ur label and adjust the prin ting contrast . Previe wing Y our Label Y o u can preview the text or format of your label prior to printing. A two-line label is p review ed as a sing le-line label with a line break character between t he t wo lines .
17 Using Labelmaker Memory The labelmaker has a po wer ful memor y feature that allows y ou to store the t ex t of up to nine labels y ou use frequently . Stori ng Label T ext Y ou can store up t o nine spec if ic labels you use frequently . T o store the curre nt label text 1.
18 Caring for Y our L abelmaker Y our labelmaker is de signed to giv e you long and trouble-fr ee ser vice, while r equiring very little maintenance. Clean your labelmaker from time to time to keep it working properly . Clean the cutter blade e ach time you replace the label cassette.
