8 Making conne ctions Connec ting a VCR T o connec t a VCR: 1 Make sure that your T V ’ s p ower cord is unpl ugged a nd the VCR is turne d off. 2 Connect a n A V cable to t he AV VIDEO OUT jack on the VCR. Y ou can connec t an S-Video cable to the S -VIDEO OUT jack instead of the AV VI D E O O UT jack.
Making conne ctions 9 3 Connect the other end of the compone nt video cable to t he COM PO NE NT 1 or COMPO NE N T2 jacks on the b ack of your T V . 4 Connect an au dio cabl e to the AUDIO OUT jacks (L/R) on th e component device .
10 Turning o n your TV for th e first time T urning on y our T V for the first time To c o n f i g u r e y o u r T V : 1 Make sure that you have in ser ted the batteri es in the remote control , connected the antenna to the TV , and connect the AC power .

20 Setting p arental controls Setting parental control lev els Y o u can set parental controls for the U.S. and Canada. The following procedure sho ws how to set contr ols for U.S. T V ratings. Y ou use similar steps for controlling U.S. movie and Canadia n T V ratings.
