10 Y our child’ s height, weight and age determine ho w your child restraint should be placed in the v ehicle and which restraint should be used. 5-35 lbs (2.3-16 kg) 19-36 in. (48-91 cm) Rear -Facing using 5-point harness Child and child restraint face the back of the vehicle and are placed in the back seat.
12 5 Place the child’ s bottom and back flat against the child restraint. This will increase comf or t and allow the harness to pr operly tighten. Rear -Facing P osition: Harness guide must be e ven with or just belo w the shoulders.
1 Fit top buckle plate ov er bottom buckle plate. The connection should be flat. P osition harness straps ov er the child’ s shoulders. 2 Hold buckle plates together with one hand and buckle with the other . Push buckle plates into buckle until you hear a “click.
16 1 P osition harness straps ov er the child’ s shoulders. NO TE: Depending on y our model, follow the unbuckling and buckling steps that matches your buckle plates. Push each buckle plate into buckle until you hear a “click”. Remember to alwa ys pull up on harness straps to mak e sure buckle is lock ed tightly .
This child restraint has 3 recline positions when used with the base: upright, semi-reclined (Forwar d-facing only) and reclined. Rear -Facing - Must be fully r eclined. F orward-F acing - Semi- reclined or upright. Belt-P ositioning Booster - Must be fully-upright.
20 Anchor bars If LA TCH is not an option, you will use y our vehicle’ s belts. There ar e some vehicle belts that will not work with a child r estraint or will requir e special attention. See next page for specific instructions. LA TCH means L ower A nchors and T ethers f or CH ildren.
22 23 Buckle T wist vehicle seat belt and latch plate (or buckle) Latch plate W ARNING ! Failur e to check and adjust the manual belt as described abo ve could r esult in serious injur y or death. 1 2 Manual Belts Manual lap belts ar e common in the center rear seat and can allo w the child restraint to loosen when it is tilted or jarr ed.
Lap/Shoulder Belt LA TCH Belt W ARNING: This child restraint m ust alwa ys face the rear of the v ehicle and be in the fully reclined position when the child w eighs between 5-35 lbs. (2.3-16 kg) and is less than one y ear old. Ne ver place a child r ear -facing in a seating position with an active fr ontal airbag.
26 Y ou may need to r emove the base for narr ow vehicle seats or airline use. See “Removing Base” in Belt- P ositioning Booster section. T o use the child restraint rear -facing without base , mak e sure r ecline stand is folded under seat. A loose top anchorag e (tether) strap can result in serious injury or death.
28 With weak est hand at belt path, tilt and push the child restraint f orward and back, and fr om side to side . If the seat belts do not loosen, your child r estraint should be secure. NO TE: Some “pla y” from fr ont to back or about an inch fr om side to side is acceptable.
30 4 6 7 5 Push LA TCH hook thr ough the rear -facing belt path slot. Pull other end of LA TCH hook between buckle stra p and rear harness slot. Push LA TCH hook thr ough the other rear - facing belt path slot. Put seat pad back ov er corners of shell.
32 5 W ARNING ! 4 T o remo ve LA TCH: Push in on release button and pull LA TCH adjuster a wa y from child restraint to loosen. Unhook LA TCH hooks. After checking for hot seat and buckles, place child in child restraint. See “Securing Y our Child in the Child Restraint” section.
With knee still in child restraint, attach hook to anchor in vehicle. Push down firmly and tighten top anchorage strap . T o adjust top anchorage strap: See “Adjusting T op Anchorage Strap” section. NO TE: If y our vehicle does not ha ve an anchor brack et, tuck the top anchorage strap’ s hook under the child restraint.
36 With weak est hand at belt path, tilt and push the child restraint f orward and back, and from side to side. If the seat belts do not loosen, your child restraint should be secur e. NO TE: Some “pla y” from fr ont to back or about an inch fr om side to side is acceptable.

40 The top anchorage strap (tether) is used for the f orward- facing position only . Most vehicles made after 9/1/99 alr eady hav e the anchor hardwar e for a top anchorage strap .
Lap/Shoulder Belt Belt-Positioning Booster Use: 40-80 lbs. (18.1-36.3 kg), 43-52” (110.1-132.1 cm), Over 1 y ear of age. 42 Refer to the “Choosing Restraint and P osition” section to mak e sure your child is at the pr oper weight and height to use the belt- positioning booster .
44 Fr om the back of the seat, unfasten harness straps fr om splitter plate . Store splitter plate b y pushing it thr ough one opening and out the other . 1 2 Pull harness thr ough the slots fr om the front. Unthread harness fr om the harness retainer .
46 Rotate recline stand down, then push up firmly until it locks in place. Place booster seat against the back of the vehicle seat. T uck the top anchorage hook under the recline stand. Ha ve child sit in seat with his back and bottom fully in the seat.
48 1 Reinstall Harness: Fit the buckle strap down thr ough the slot in the seat. Mak e sure buckle faces out. Fr om the bottom of seat, pull buckle's metal clip completely thr ough pad and shell. 3 W ARNING ! Failur e to reattach the harness system corr ectly can r esult in serious injur y or death.
50 Remov e base and harness as described in the “Belt- P ositioning Booster” section. Depending on your model, (1A) , from underneath bottom of shell, release the elastic straps (A) . Undo the clips on the side of the shell (B) . OR (1B) , fr om back of shell, release the elastic straps.
52 1. If y our child restraint is not held secur ely b y the belt: Press do wn firmly on the child r estraint and remov e all the slack in the belt. Mak e sure the belt buckle is not up against the child restraint wher e the belt cannot be tightened.
