Chapter 1 Introduction 1. Intr oduction Congratulations on your purchase of this Fast/Gigabit Ethernet Management Switch. This high performance m anagement switch provides Ethernet ports to segment network traf fics, extend Ethernet connection distan ce, and convert data packets between dif ferent transmission speeds.
In addition, all the ports support the MDI/MDI-X auto-detect function. That is to say , you can connect any device (including PC, Switch, Hub) to a port of this switch using a regular cable. The RJ-45 port will auto-detect and auto-switch to the correct MDI/MDI-X mode (do not need to use a specific uplink port or cross-over cable).
2. Featur es & Specifications Features Complies with the IEEE802.3 Ethernet, IEEE802.3u Fast Ethernet (IEEE802.3z, IEEE802.3ab for Gigabit switch) Provides Store-and-Forward architecture.

4.2 Switch Settings 4.2.1 Basic Description: Displays the name of this managem ent switch. MAC Address: The unique hardware address is assigned by m a n u f a c t u r e r ( d e f a u l t ) . Firmwar e V ersion: Displays the switch’ s firmware version.
4.2.3 Advanced Miscellaneous Settings: MAC Address Age-out T i me : T ype the number of seconds that an inactive MAC address remains in the switch's address table. The valid range is 300~765 seconds. Default is 300 seconds. Max bridge transit delay bound control: Lim it the packets queuing time in switch.
that the switch sends 2 high prio rity packets before sending 1 low priority packet. Qos Policy: High Priority Levels, 0~7 priority levels, can map to high or low queue. Collisions Retry Forever : Enable it or just disable this function. 802.1X Protocol: IEEE 802.
4.3 Console Port Information Console is a standard UAR T interface to comm unicate with Serial Port. Y ou can use windows HyperT erminal program to link the switch.
4.4 Port Controls Y ou can change the status of each port in this page. 1.S tate: Y ou can enable or disable this port. 2.Auto Negotiation: Y ou can set auto negotiation mode as A uto, Nway (specify the speed/duplex on this port and enable auto-negotiation) or Force of each port.
0: disable rate control 1 ~ 1000: valid rate value. 7.Port Security: A port in security mode will be “locked” without permission of addres s learning. Only the incoming packets with SMAC already existin g in the address table can be forwarded normally .
4.5 Trunking The Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) provides a standardized means for exchanging information between Partner Systems on a link to allow their Link Aggregation Control instance.
disable, the group is local static trunking group. All ports support LACP dynamic trunking group. If connecting to the device that also supports LACP , the LACP dynamic trunking group will be created automatically . 3. W ork ports: Allow max four ports can be aggregated at the same time.
4.5.3 S tate Activity Active (selected) : The port autom atically sends LACP protocol packets. Passive (not selected) : The port does not au tomatically sends LACP protocol packets, and res ponds only if it receives LACP protocol packets from the opposite device.
4.6 Filter Database 4.6.1 IGMP Snooping This switch supports IP multicast, you can enable IGMP protocol on web management’ s sw itch settings advanced page, then display the IGMP snooping information in this page, you can view dif ference multicast gr oup ,VID and m ember port here, IP multicast addresses range from 224.
S teps to add Static MAC Address: 1. From the main menu, click ad ministrator ->Filter Database ->S tatic MAC Address. 2. In the MAC address box, enter the MAC address to and from which the port should permanently forward traf fic, regardless of the device’ s network activity .
4.6.3 MAC Filtering MAC address filtering allows th e switch to drop unwanted traf fic. T raff ic is filtered based on the destination addresses. S teps to specify a MAC address to filter: 1.In the MAC Address box, enter the MAC address that wants to filter .
4.7 VLAN Configuration A V irtual LAN (VLAN) is a logical network group that limits the broadcast domain. It allows you to isolate network traf fic so only members of the VLAN receive traf fic from the same VLAN members.
