5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and connection instructions” . • If the appliance is delivered in the winter months when ther e ar e mi- nus temperatur es: store the washing machine at r oom temperatur e for 24 hours befor e using for the first time.
6 • Switch off the washing machine prior to cleaning it and carrying out maintenance. In addition, remove the power plug fr om the power point or – if the appliance has been har d-wired – swit ch off the cut- out in the fuse box or completely remove the fuse.
7 Switching on the appliance for the first time – setting the language When swit ching on the app liance for the firs t time you should be sure to set the language in wh ich you want the indicator s in the display to appear . 1. Press the contr ol knob .

14 Befor e the first wash Setting the time So that the curr ent time and the end of the progr amme are corr ectly displayed, please check the display and set the curr ent time, if neces- sary .
15 Running a wash cycle Switching on the appliance Press the contr ol knob . The appliance is now switched on. 3 Before switching the appli- ance on, make sur e that the drum is empty . If you do not, the washing will subsequently not be register ed prope rly by the load sensor .
16 3 RINSE HOLD means: the washing is left to soak in the last rinse water and is not spun. If requir ed, set options. Selecting options Y ou can select differe nt options on top of the programme that has been selected. Only options that can be combined with the progr amme that has already been selected will be offer ed.
17 DELA Y ST ART 1. Press the OPTIONS key . 2. Use the control knob to highlight DELA Y START . 3. Press the SELECT key . 4. Use the control knob to highlight the time at which the progr amme is to end. 5. Press the SELECT key . The progr amme end time will change in the information panel.
18 Opening the door/Loa ding the washing 1. To open the door: car efully pull the handle on the door . 2. Unfold the washing and load it loosely into the machine. Mix large and small items. Important: Do no t get any wash ing caught between the door and the rubber seal.
19 Adding deter gent / conditioner Important: Only use detergents/conditioner s that are suitable for use in domestic washing machines. Add detergent/conditioner in a ccordance with the deter gent/condi- tioner manufacturer’ s instructi ons. Observe instructions on the packag- ing.
20 Starting a pr ogramme 1. Check that the water t ap is open. 2. Press the ST ART key . The wash cycle is started. Pr ogramme pr ogr ess While the progr amme is running, the display shows among other things: – each stage of the pr o- gramme as it pr ogresses, e.
21 W ashing cycle complete/Removing the washing At the end of the progr amme PLEA SE TAKE OUT THE CLO THES appears in the display . As soon as the § symbol appears, the door can be opened. 1. Open the door using the handle. 2. Remove the washing. 3. Close the water tap.
22 Setting extr a options Independent of any progr amme you can set differ ent basic settings. These basic settings will permanently remain active until they are dese- lected again. MEMORY Saving a pr ogramme setting First set a progr amme (e.g. LINEN/EASY -CARES, 40 °C, 1200 rpm, with the SENSITIVE option), then save it.
23 4. Highlight the SENSITIVE op- tion. 5. Press the SELECT key . The symb ol will appear in the display . 6. Press the EXTRAS key . MEMORY is highlighted: 7. Press the SELECT key . If MEMORY 1 is highlighted: 8. Press the SAVE key . The progr amme setting is stored as M1: LINEN/EASY -C.
24 RINSE +, GENTLE SPIN 1. Press the OPTIONS key . 2. Press the EXTRAS key . 3. Use the control knob to highlight the desired Extr a, e.g. RINSE +. 4. Press the SELECT key . The symbol appear s in the display . 5. Press the BACK key twice. LANGUAGE 1.
25 VOLUME 1. Press the OPTIONS key . 2. Press the EXTRAS key . 3. Use the control knob to highlight VOLUME. 4. Press the SELECT key . 5. Use the control knob to highlight OFF , NORMAL or LOUD. 6. Press the SELECT key . 7. Press the BACK key 3 times. Child safety device If the child safety device has been activated, the door can no longer be shut.
26 Cleaning and car e Important: Do not use furniture cleaning pr oducts or aggressive clean- ing agents to clean the appliance. Wipe over the control panel and housing with a damp cloth. Deter gent drawer The detergent dr awer should be cleaned r egularly .
27 What to do if... Remedying small malfunctions yourself If one of the following fault messages is shown in the display during operation: – ATTENTION (E4 1) / PLEASE CLOSE THE DOOR – ATTENTION ERROR CODE (E1 1) / PLEASE OPEN THE TAP – ATTENTION ERROR CODE (E2 1) / PL EASE CHECK THE WATER DRAIN- AGE please refer to the following table.
28 The washing machine vibrates when operat- ing or is not stable. The transi t packaging has not been re moved. Removing the tr ansit pack- aging. The screw feet not correctly adjusted. Adjust the feet as described in the installation and con- nection instructions.
29 If the wash r esult is not satisfactory The washing is grey and there ar e limescale deposits in the drum • Too little deter gent was used. • An incorrect deter gent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The progr amme or temperatur e was not set properly .
30 Carrying out an emer gency drain 1 War n i n g ! Prior to carrying out an emergency dr ain, switch off the washing machine and remove the pow er plug fr om the power point. War n i n g ! The water that comes out of the emergency dr ain hose may be hot.
31 Dr ain pump The drain pump is maintenance-fr ee. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if there is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Before loading the machine, please always ensure that ther e are no for- eign bodies present in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.

33 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Before using for the fir st time, ch eck the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being transpor ted. Do not under any circumstanc- es connect an appliance that is damaged to the mains.
34 Installing the appliance T ransporting the appliance 1 War n i n g : The washing machine is very heavy . There is a risk of injury . Exercise car e when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay the w ashing machine on its front nor on its right side (as seen fr om the front).
35 3 Special spanner A and sealing caps B (2 units) and C (1 unit) come with the appliance. 3. Use special spanner A to remove screw D and the compr ession spring. 4. Use sealing cap C to cap the hole. 5. Use special spanner A to remove the two screws E.
36 Making the appliance level 3 Automatic ad justing foot: The r ear foot on the left-hand side of your washing machine is built as a shoc k absorbing foot. This guarantees that the appliance does not move even at high spin speeds. The four feet of the appliance are pre-adjusted.
37 Should the plug need to be replaced for any reason, pr oceed as described below . The wires in the mains lead ar e coloured in accor dance with the following code: • The wire colour ed green and yellow must be connected to the terminal marked with the letter “E“ or by the earth symbol E or coloured gr een and yello w .
38 Connecting the appliance to the water supply Important: • This appliance must not be connected to the hot water supply . • When connecting the appliance, use only new hose ki ts.
39 W ater inlet A 1.35 m long pressur e hose is supplied with the appliance. If a longer inlet hose is required, only hoses fr om the manufacturer ar e to be used. Y our local Service Force st ocks hose kits of different lengths. 3 Sealing rings are either inserted in th e plastic nuts of the thr eaded hose fitting or are included as spar e pa rts.
40 Wa t e r D ra i n a g e The appliance drain hose should hook into a standpipe, the hook in the drain hose is formed usin g the plas tic “U-Piece“ supplied. The standpipe should have an internal diameter of approximately 38 mm (see dia- gram) thus ensuring ther e is an air br eak between the drain hose and standpipe.
41 Pumping heights of over 1 metr e The washing machine’s dr ain pump is ab l e t o p u m p w a t e r to a h ei g h t o f 1 metre, calculated from the surface on which the appliance is installed. Important! If pumping height is over 1 metre malfunctions and dam- age to the appliance may arise.
