4 Important Safety Instructions These warnings ar e provided in the inter ests of your s afety . Ensur e you fully understand them befor e installing or u sing the appliance. Y our safety i s of paramount importance. If you ar e unsur e about the meaning of these warnings contact the Cu stomer Care Department for assi stance.
Important Safety Instructions 5 mains plug, cut off the mains cable, break or r emove spring or bolt catches, if fitted. By doing this you ensure that childr en cannot lock themselves in the appliance when playing (there is risk of suffoca- tion!) or get themselves into other dangerous situations.
6 Disposal Appliance P ackaging Information All materials are envir onmentally sound! They can be disposed of or burned at an incinerating plant without danger . About the materials: The plastics can be recycled and ar e identified as follows: >PE< for polyethylene, e.
7 Installation Installation Location The appliance should be set up in a well ventilated, dry room. Energy use and efficient performance of the appliance is affected by the ambient temperatur e.
8 Installation Detaching the W orktop After the worktop has been removed the appliance can be installed under- neath a continuous worktop. The procedur e is as follows: ☞ 1. Unscrew the Philips scr ews (F) on the right and the left. 2. Lift the worktop slightly , push it about 20 mm towards the r ear , and lift it off upwards (G).
9 Installation ☞ 1. Detach the worktop. 2. Unscrew the door hinge (A) and screw it into place on the opposite side. 3. Refit the worktop. 4. Tilt the appliance slightly towards the rear and pr op it securely . 5. Unscrew the door hinge scr ews (K) and remove the hinge pin br acket (1).
10 Installation Changing Over the Fr eezer Compartment Door Plug S ocket The plug socket necessary for connection of your appliance to the electricity supply should be positioned so that it is possible to pull out the appliance plug. If your appliance is installed under a continuous worktop, the plug socket should be provided as shown.
11 Installation Electrical Connection Any electrical work requir ed to install this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. WARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED The manufacturer declines any liability s hould these safety mea- sures not be observed.

13 Starting Up and T emper ature Regulation ☞ 1. Connect the appliance to the mains electricity supply . When the refriger ator compartment door is opened, the internal light- ing is switched on. The temperatur e control knob is locat- ed on the right hand side of the refriger ator compartment.
14 If this happens, turn the thermostat knob back to a warmer setting (position “3” to “4”). At this setting the compressor will be switched on and off as usual and automatic defrosting r ecommenced. Interior Accessories Stor age S helves Various glass stor age shelves are included with your appliance.
15 Interior accessories V ariable Inner Door The door compartments can be pulled up and removed, and inserted at other positions as needed. V ariable Storage Box Some models are equipped with a variable stor age box which is fitted under a door shelf compartment and can be slid sideways.
16 Fr eezing and Storing Fr ozen Food The freezer compartment is for fr eezing and storing food. Important! • The temperatur e in the freezer compartment must be –18°C or cold- er before fr eezing fresh food or storing food alr eady frozen. • Do not freeze too lar ge a quantity at any one time (max.
17 freezing, so that they do not dry out or lose their flavour , and so that no flavour contamination of other frozen goods occur s. Caution! Do not touch frozen food with wet hands. Y our hands could stick to the food causing skin abrasions. 2. Lay the packaged food on the base of the freezer compartment.
18 Defrosting Defr osting the Freezer Compartment During use and when the freezer compartment door is opened, mois- ture is deposited in the fr eezer compartment as frost. Remove this frost fr om time to time with the soft plastic scraper . Under no cir cum- stances use hard or pointed objects to r emove frost.
19 Cleaning and Car e For hygienic reasons the appliance interior , including interior acces- sories, should be cleaned regularly . Warning! • The appliance must not be connected to the mains during cleaning.
20 What to do if ... Corr ecting Malfunctions A malfunction may be caused by only a minor fault that you can recti- fy yourself using the following instructions. Do not perform any other work on the appliance if the following information does not provide assistance in your specific case.
21 What to do if ... Temper ature is set too cold. Turn the thermostat knob to a warmer setting tem- porarily . The compressor runs con- tinuously . Symptom P ossible Cau se Remedy The food is too warm. Temper ature is not pr oper- ly adjusted. Please look in the “Starting Up and Temper ature Regulation” section.
22 Changing the L ight B ulb Warning! Ther e is a risk of electric shocks! Before changing the light bulb , switch off the appliance and unplug it, or disconnect from the power supply . Light bulb data: 220-240 V, max. 15 W ☞ 1. To switch off the appliance, turn the thermostat knob to position "0".
