4 Introduct ion Thank you for purchasing the One Touch ™ 531 dual ba nd mobile telephone. The mobile telephone de- scribed in this guide is app roved for use on all GSM 900/1800 networks. Some of the messages displayed on y our mo- bile m ay be di fferent a ccording to your subscription and/or service provider.

7 Introd uction Call barring password (4 digi ts) This password is used to bar various types of calls, made or received, from the phone (see Call barrin g passwor d, page 41). Phonel ock cod e (4 digits ) This code is set to all zeros on deliv- ery. You can change it.

13 Network Servic es Network services The availab ility of this menu is network de- pendent (it may not be available or be named Network services, Network,...). Your netw ork opera tor may provi de value added services, in formation and contact phone numbers.
14 Phone B ook Data can be stored in the phone a nd in the SIM card memories (=phonebook). The phone memory c an store up to 255 'extend ed' cards (calle d 'phonebook cards').

17 Phone Book To modify a group: To select a grou p when storing a number: My Card My Card is a s pecific stor age location where you can enter personal data.
18 Fixed dialling numbers (FDN) Fixed dial ling is a fea ture that rest ricts out- going calls to 'fixed' numbers or 'pref ixes' contained in SIM cards that support this feature. Whe n the FDN feature is a ctivated, diall ing nu mbers, di vert ing cal ls and sen d- ing SMS to numb ers not registered in the FDN list is forbidden.
19 Phone Book To view the voice dialling num- bers list: To remove all phone numbers from the vo ice dialling li st: To call a phone num ber using a voice pattern: Press . Sele ct Phon e Bo ok . Select Voice dialli ng . Select Lis t . Use or to view the requested entry.
20 Messages The Short Message Servi ce (SMS) enables t o s e n d o r r e c e i v e t e x t m e s s a g e s t o o r from ot her mobi le phones . You ca n store , edit and forward messages as w ell as save any of t he numbers they may c ontain.
21 Messages Preparing the phon e to send SMS messages Before sen ding your firs t SMS, the net- work SMS cen tre number ( obtaina ble from your service p rovider) has to be stored: The SMS centre num ber may a lready be available in your SIM card and may then be automatically displayed.
22 To enter text press the key bearing the requir ed character un til it ap- pears in the display. Holding the key displays the number corre- sponding to the k ey.

24 To send SMS from the Menu: To send S MS from the stand by d is- pla y: Signature You can register a signature to be auto- matically added to your text messages. The signature is not displayed when typing the message text but i t is displayed on message reception by the addressee.
25 Messages To select one of these messages: Status request If a status is requested on a delivered mes- sage the date and time of delivery may be shown. If the status is requested on a sent message a status request is sen t to the networ k (mu st be ne twork support ed).

30 Settings Tones Alert mode You can set the ring, alert and alarm tones via the Alert to nes menu.
