5 Oper ating Instructions 1 Safety Prior to using the appliance for the first time • Follow the “Installation and connection instructions” . • If the appliance is deliver ed in the winter months when ther e are mi- nus temperatur es: store the washing machine at r oom temp er ature for 24 hours befor e using for the first time.
6 Gener al safety • Repairs to the washing machine may only be carried out by qualified/ authorised service engineers. • Never use the appliance when the el ectrical cable is damaged or the control panel, worktop or plinth ar ea are damaged to such an extent that the inside of the appl iance is openly accessible.

10 Befor e the first wash 1. Open the detergent dr awer . 2. P our approx. 2 litr es of water thr o ugh the detergent dr awer into the washing machin e. This closes the water container when the next pr ogr amme is started and the economy valve can function properly 3.
11 Running a wash cycle Opening the door/loading washing 1. Open the door: pull the handle on the door . When the appliance is switched on , the DOOR and START/P AUSE indica- tor s show whether the door can be opened: 2. Separate washing and load loosely .
12 1. Pull out the deter gent dr awer as far as it will go. 2. Add the deter gent/conditioner . 3. Push the deter g ent dr awer in fully . W ashing powder/tablets fo r the main wash cycle If you ar e .
13 Changing the spin speed /selecting rinse hold The washing machine suggests the maximum permitted spin speed suitable for the selected pro- gr amme. Y ou can reduce this spin speed: T o do this, pr ess the Spin/RINSE HOLD button repeatedly until th e requir ed speed is indicated.
14 Activating/deactivating RINSE+ If RINSE+ is activated, two addition al rinse cycles take place with the pr ogrammes CO TTONS/LINEN, EASY -CARES/EASY IRON, DELICA TES and RINSE. RINSE+ r emains permanently saved – even after the appliance has been switched off.
15 Starting a pr ogr amme 1. Check that the tap is turned on. 2. Pr ess the START / PAUSE button. The pr ogramme is started or will start after the delay timer has counted down. During the wash pr ogr amme the curr ent stage of the progr amme will be shown in the progr amme progr ess display .
16 If RINSE HOLD has been selected: Following a rinse hold DOOR and END will il luminate in the progr amme pr ogress display . Fir st the water must be dr ained: – Either turn the progr amme selecto.
17 Cleaning and maintenance Important! Do not use furnitur e care pr oducts or aggressive cleaner s to clean the app liance. Wipe contr ol panel and body with a damp cloth. Cleaning pr ocedur e If you plan to wash mainly at lo w temper ature, you should run a hot pr ogramme fr om time to time.
18 Door and rubber collar Regularly check whether deposits or for eign bodies are pr e sent in the folds of the rubber collar or on the inside of the glass door .
19 The END indicator is flashing 1x. (Pr oblems with the wa- ter inflow .) The tap is turne d off. Turn on the tap. The filter in the inlet ho se screw connection is bl ocked. Turn off the tap. Unsc rew t he hose, r emove the filter and clean it. The tap is blo cked by limes- cale or is faulty .
20 If the wash r esult is not satisfactory The washing is grey and ther e ar e limescale deposits in th e drum • Too little deter gent was used. • An incorr ect deter gent was used. • Individual stains were not pr e-treated. • The progr amme or temperatur e was not set properly .
21 There ar e white residues on the washin g • What can be seen here ar e insoluble substances which mod ern deter- gents contain. They are not the r esult of insuffi cient rinsing. Shake or brush the washing. If possible turn the washing inside out before washing.
22 Dr ain pump The dr ain pump is maintenance-free. It is only necessary to open the pump cover if ther e is a malfunction and water is no longer being pumped out, e.g. if the pump wheel is blocked. Befor e loading the machine, please always ensur e that ther e ar e no for- eign bodies pr esent in the pockets or in between the items to be washed.
23 Disposal 2 P ackaging material The packaging materials are envir onm entally friendly and can be r ecy- cled. The plastic components are id entified by markings, e.g. >PE<, >PS<, etc. Please dispose of the pa ckaging materials in the appr opriate container at your local wa ste disposal fac ilities.

25 Installation and connection instructions 1 Safety information concerning installation • This washing machine cannot be built-in . • Befor e using for the firs t time, ch eck the appliance for damage sus- tained while it was being tr anspor ted.
26 Installing the appliance T ransporting the appliance 1 Wa r n in g : The washing machine is very heavy . Ther e is a risk of injury . Exer cise care when lifting the appliance. • Do not lay th e washing machine on its fr ont nor on its right side (as seen fr om the front).
27 2. Remove the power supply cable and the draining hose from the hose holder s on the rear of the appliance. 3. With a suitable spanner unscrew and re mo v e t h e c e n t ra l rea r b o l t A . Slide out the r elevant plastic spacer . 4. U ns c re w a nd re m o ve t h e tw o l a rg e r ear bolts B and the six smaller bolts C .
28 5. Remove the br acket D. 6. Refit the six smaller bolts C . 7. Open the porthole and remove the polystyrene block fitted with the ad- hesive tape on the door seal. 8. Fill the smaller upper hole and the two large ones with the corr espond- ing plastic plug caps supplied in the bag containing the instruction booklet.
29 Connect the water inlet hose as described under the par agr aph “Water inlet” . Wher e to install Important! The washing machine must not be operated in a r oom wher e there is a danger of frost. Ther e is a risk of frost damage or ad- vers e effect on the perfomance of the machine.
30 Electrical Connection Any electrical work requir ed to inst all this appliance should be carried out by a qualified electrician or competent person. 1 W ARNING – THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE EARTHED. The manufactur er declines any liabil i ty should these safety measur es not be observed.
31 P ermanent Connection In the case of a permanent connection it is necessary that you install a double pole switch between the appliance and the electricity supply (mains), with a minimum gap of 3 m m between the switch contacts and of a type suitable for the r equir ed load in compliance with the current electrical r egulations.
32 W ater inlet Attention! • An inlet hose is supplied and can be found inside the machine drum. • Do not use the hose from your pr evious machine to connect to the water supply . • This appliance must be connect ed to a cold water supply . 1. Open the porthole and extract the inlet hose.
33 When discharging into a stand- pipe ensur e that the top of the curve in the hose end is no more than 90 cm (35.4’’) and no less than 60 cm (23.6’’) above floor level. The upright standpipe should have a minimum, length of 30 cm (12’’) fr om the bottom of the el- bow to the top of the pipe (see diagr am).
