2 Before We Begin Thank you for purchasing th e SmartSet ® Clock Radio from Emerson. This clock radio uses Emerson’s p atented SmartSet ® Automatic Time Setting System.
3 IMPORT ANT NOTES • Av oid installing this unit in places exposed to direct sunlight or clos e to heat radiating appli ances such as electric heaters, on top of other stereo equipment that radiates too much heat, places lacking ventilatio n or dusty areas, places subject to constant vibration and/or humid or mo ist areas.
4 Protect Y our Fu rniture This model is equipment with non-skid rubber ‘feet’ to prevent the product from moving when you operate the controls. These ‘feet’ are made from non-migrating rubber materi al specially formulated to avoid leaving any marks or st ains on your furniture.

7 OPERA TING INSTRUCTIONS Setting The Ti me, The First Time IMPORT ANT : The first time you co nnect your ne w SmartSet ® clock radio to the AC outle t the inte rnal com puter w ill aut omati ca lly se t the time correctly for the Eastern Time Zone , which is the initial default setting.
8 Manual T i me Adjustment s Some people like to set the ir clocks 5 to 10 minu tes fast to m ake sure that they will always be on time. Even though the SmartSet ® sets the time by itself, you still h ave the option of adjusting the time manually if you wish.
9 T o change the Alarm Mode setting for Alarm 1, hold the ALARM 1 setting button and press the MODE button until the DA Y OF WEEK indi cators show the desired mode setting, W eekdays only , W eekends only , or Everyday operation. Release the MODE and ALARM 1 setting buttons, the display will return to the correct time.
10 W a ke T o RADIO 1. Turn the radio ‘O n’ and select the band, statio n, and volume level that you wish to hear when the alarm comes ‘O n’, then turn the radio ‘O ff” agai n. 2. Reconfirm the wake u p time and alarm mode settings for the alarm you are using, Alarm 1 , Alarm 2, or both alarms.
11 Sleep T o The Radio or Music T imer Y ou can program the sleep timer to play the Radio or AUX IN for up to 90 minutes and then shut ‘Of f’ au tomatically . 1. Press the SLEEP button. The display will briefly show “10” and the Radio or AUX IN will begin to pla y .
12 When th e batte ry power d rops below a cer tain level, th e LOW BA TT . Indicator (Main display) will ‘flash’. When you see this indicat or , you should change the battery as soon as it is con venient for you to do so. T o change the battery proceed as follows: 1.
13 Resetting The Clock After A T ot al Memory L oss If you do not change the built in lithium battery within a reasonable period of time after you see the (main display) warning indicato r , the lithium battery may become ex hausted and will no longer be able to supply back up power to the SmartSet ® internal computer .
14 Using AUX IN Jack to enjoy your iPod, MP3 or other audio source This clock radio is equipped with AUX IN Jack to e njoy your iPod, MP3 player music or other audio source.
15 5. The receiving indicator “ ” will blink on the out d oor temperature display . NOTE: The receiving indicator “ ” will bli nk for 3 minutes unti l receiving the wireless Thermo Sensor code, it will stop blinking once the code is received. The tempe rature will then be displayed.
16 TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE Symptom Possibility causing/suggestion Indoor or out door temperature display shows up “LL”. If the indoor or outdoor temper ature is below –15 o C / 5 o F , “LL” shows. Th is is not an error . Indoor or out door temperature display shows up “HH”.
17 CARE AND MAINTENANCE Care Of Cabinet s If the cabinet becomes dusty , wipe it with a sof t cloth. If the cabinet becomes smudged or dirty , clean it with a sof t, slightly dampened cloth. Never all ow water or any liquid to get inside the cabinet. Never use any abras ive clea ners or cleaning p ads as these will damage the finish of your radio.
