Electrical Connections 10 2.0 E LECTRICAL C ONNECTIONS The UPS requires both power and co ntrol cabling once it has been mecha nically installed. All control cables must run separate from power cables in metal conduits or metal ducts that are electrically bonded to the metalwork of the cabi nets to which they are connected.
Electrical Connections 11 2.1.2 UPS Input Configuration Figure 3 illustrate s the Liebert NX in a split by pass (dual-input) co nfiguration. In this configuration the Static Bypass and the Maintenance Bypa ss lines ar e supplied from a separate feed from the Main input.
Electrical Connections 12 2.1.4 Cable Connections The rectifier input, bypass and output are easily ac cessible from the front of the unit for installation. All require lu g type terminations. They are connected to busbars on the fron t side of the Liebert NX and below the circuit breaker, as shown in Figure 4 .
Electrical Connections 13 2.1.5 Safety Ground The safety ground busbar is located belo w the Maintenance Bypass circuit breaker as shown in Figure 4 . The safety ground cable must be connected to the ground busbar and bonded to each cabi- net in the system.
Electrical Connections 14 2.1.7 Cabling Procedure Once the equipment has been posi tioned and secured for operation, and the battery and ground col- lars have been connected (see 2.1.4 - Cable Connectio ns ), connect the power cables as described below.
Electrical Connections 15 Frequency Converter Mode If a frequen cy converter configur ation is used, co nnect the AC input supply cables to the rectifier input busbars (A-B-C terminals). Torque to 88 lb-i n (10N-m) for M8 bolts. Ensure correct phase rota- tion.
Electrical Connections 16 Figure 6 Auxiliary terminal block det ail (Monitoring Board) 2.3 Dry Cont act s The UPS provides input dry contacts and output dry contacts. NOTE When operating the Liebert NX with dry contacts , ESD measures must be taken or the contacts may be damaged.
Electrical Connections 17 2.3.1 Input Dry Cont acts There are several input dry contacts at the X3 slot. Figure 7 Input dry cont acts 2.3.2 Maintenance Byp ass Cabinet Interface J26 and J30 are the MBC interfa ce. T able 1 Input dry cont act s at X3 Position Name Description J4.

Electrical Connections 20 2.3.5 EPO Input—Optional The UPS has an Emergency Power Off (EPO) function op erated by a button on the control panel or by a remote contact provided by the use r. The local EPO button is under a hinged, clear plastic shield.
Battery Installation 21 3.0 B ATTERY I NST ALLATION 3.1 Introduction If using multiple sets of batteri es connected in parallel to provid e the required ba ttery backup run times, fit each set with an isolat ing device to permit wo rking on one of the batt ery sets while l eaving the others in service and pr oviding backup protection.
Battery Installation 22 3.3 External Battery Cabinet Inst allation 3.3.1 Battery Cabinet s Figure 1 1 Battery cabinet The same model battery cabinet may be installed in paralle l in multiple cabinet string s for additional capacity. Battery run time depends on the cabinet mo del, the number of cabinets and the load on the UPS.
Battery Installation 23 3.3.2 Connecting the Batteries If the Liebert NX battery cabinets are installe d on a raised floor, the battery power cabl es and circuit breaker control cables may be routed to the UPS c abinet via the floor of the cabinet (bottom entry).
Battery Installation 24 Figure 13 Battery tray and supp ort s 3.3.4 Connecting the Battery Cabinet t o the UPS After the battery cabinet equipmen t has been positioned and secure d fo r operation and the batteries have been connected, connect the power cables as described below.
Battery Installation 25 3.6 Alber Monitoring System—Optional The Liebert matching battery cabine t allows installing a n optional Alber Battery monitoring system in the cabinet. The Alber Battery Monitoring by Liebert conti nuo usly checks all critical battery parameters, such as cell voltage, overal l string vo ltage, current an d temperat ure.
Options 26 4.0 O PTIONS 4.1 Load Bus Synchronization The Load Bus Synchronizer (LBS) keeps the output of two independent UPS systems or para llel UPS systems in synchronization even when the systems are operating in different modes and even when either or both systems are operat ing on batteries.
