2 Loading Continuous Paper Onto the R ear Pus h Tractor Open th e paper guid e cover and re mo v e the pa per gu ide. Open b oth sprocket covers, and fit the fir st four ho les of t he p a per, pr intab le side down, over the tractor pi ns. Then close t h e sprocket covers .
3 Attach th e paper guide. Close the paper guide cover, and make sur e the pap er re lea se lev er is set to the rear push trac tor position. Not e: Always close the print er cover b e fore printi ng.
4 Loading Continuous Paper Onto the Fro nt Push Tractor Open th e front paper guide by pulling the tab at the center of it, and th en r emo ve th e gu ide by gr aspi ng b oth sid e s an d p ul ling it str a ight o ut of the pri nter .
5 Attach the f ront paper guide by ins er ting it int o th e s lot s in th e p rin te r as s hown. Close the front paper guide, and mak e sur e the pap er re lea se lev er is set to the front push tractor position. Not e: Always close the print er cover b e fore printi ng.
6 Remov ing t he Pri nte d Docume nt From the Push T ract or Mak e s u re t he Te ar O ff/B in lig hts are flashing. (You may need to pr es s the Tear Off /Bi n button.) When the Te ar Off/ Bin li ghts a re flas hing , you r pap er is in the tear-off position.
7 Make s ure that the printer f inis hes printing. Y ou may need to p ress the Pause b utton to stop printing. (When the printer i s paused, the Pause ligh t i s on .) Tea r off t he fre sh su pp ly o f cont inuo us lab els at th e perf o ratio n n ear est the pap er e ntry slo t.
8 Replacing the Ribbon Cartr idge Press the Operat e button to tu rn off the printer. The p rinter is off w hen the surface of the Op erate button is even with the but ton protectors as shown. c C auti on: Moving the print head while t he printer is on may damage the printer.
9 Replac ing the Ribbon Cartridge M ake sure th e print head is not hot; i f it is , le t it co ol f or a f ew m in ute s b ef or e touching it. Then slide the print h ead to the ribbon installation position (the indented p ortion of t h e paper tension uni t) by ha n d .
10 Replac ing the Ri bbon Cartri dge Remove the separator from th e new ribbon cartri dge and discard it. T hen turn the ri bbon-tightening kn ob in the direction of the arrow to remove any sla ck in t he ri bbon . Hold the c artridge with the ri bbon- tightening knob up.
11 Gently pr ess down the c artridge until both en ds click in to p lace . Lift the cartridge’s ribbon guide ( ➀ ) and insert it f irmly over the metal pins be hi nd the pr i nt hea d ( ➁ ). Mak e sure the ri bbon is not twist ed or creased and that i t is in p l ace b ehind the print head.
12 Replac ing the Ri bbon Cartri dge Slide the print head from side to side to m a ke su re it mov e s sm o o thl y. Replace the p rinte r cover and cl os e the paper gu ide cover.
13 Cle arin g Pa p e r J a ms Press the Operat e button to tu rn off the printer. If an ejected single sheet of paper is stuck on th e paper guide, remove it. Rem ov e th e pr in ter cov er. If con t in uou s pap e r from th e rear slo t is jammed, al so remove the p aper guide.
14 If co nt inuo us pape r is ja m med in the printer, tear off the fresh supply at the perforation nearest the p a pe r entry slo t. Turn the knob on the right s ide of th e printer away from you to eject the pa pe r in t he pr i nt er . Re mo v e an y remaining pieces of paper.
