Safety Operation W ARNING Operating engine par ts, especially the mufer, become extremely hot. Severe bur ns can occur on contact and debris, such as leav es, grass, br ush, etc. can catch re. • Allow engine parts, especially the mufer , to cool before touching .
Safety DANGER Operating on w et grass or steep slopes can cause sliding and loss of control. Wheels dropping o ver edges, ditches, steep banks, or w ater can cause rollovers, which may result in serious injur y , death or drowning . • Do Not mow slopes when grass is wet.

Operation Operation Note: Deter mine the left and right sides of the machine from the normal operating position. Controls Motion Control Levers The motion control lev ers located on eac h side of the console control the forw ard and rev erse motion of the mac hine.
Operation Pull eac h lev er rearw ard and outward to loc k. Pull each lev er inward and push forward to reset. Do Not tow machine. PTO Engagement Switch Located right of center on the console (left side of ignition switch). Switch m ust be pulled out to the “R OT A TE” position to eng age the blades .
Operation Important: Operator must be in seat before the PTO can be engaged. 1. Set the throttle to the “MID W A Y” position. 2. Pull the PTO switch outward to the “R OTA TE” position. 3. Place the throttle in the “F AST” position to begin mowing .

Operation CAUTION This unit does not ha ve proper tur n signals, lights, reecti ve markings, or a slow mo ving v ehicle emblem. Dri ving on a street or roadway without such equipment is dangerous and can lead to accidents causing personal injur y .
Maintenance Maintenance Note: Deter mine the left and right sides of the machine from the nor mal operating position. W ARNING While maintenance or adjustments are being made, someone could star t the engine. Accidental star ting of the engine could seriously injure y ou or other bystanders.
Maintenance Periodic Maintenance Check Engine Oil Level Service Interval: Before each use or daily 1. Stop engine and wait for all moving parts to stop . Make sure unit is on a lev el surface. 2. Check with engine cold. 3. Clean area around dipstick. R emov e dipstick and wipe oil off .

Maintenance 1. Stop engine, wait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and remov e key . Engag e parking brake . 2. Visually inspect mac hine for any loose hardware or any other possible problem. Tighten hardw are or correct the problem before operating . Service Air Cleaner Service Interval: Every 50 hours—Service the air cleaner .
Maintenance Lubricate Grease Fittings Note: See chart for ser vice inter vals. 1. Stop engine, wait for all mo ving par ts to stop , and remov e key . Engag e parking brake . 2. Lubricate ttings with one to tw o pumps of NGLI grade #2 multi-purpose gun g rease .
Maintenance 9. Insert the assembled nut and axle into the wheel on the side of the wheel with the new seal and bearing . 10. With the open end of the wheel facing up , ll the area inside the wheel around the axle full of NGLI grade #1 m ulti-purpose grease.
Maintenance 6. Add oil until it reac hes the FULL COLD line on the expansion reser voir . Exmark Premium Hydro Oil is recommended. R efer to the c hart for an acceptable alternative: Hydro Oil Change Inter val Exmark Premium Hy dro Oil (Preferred) 500 Hours Mobil 1 15W50 250 Hours 7.
