12 3.1.3 Speed Control Lever : Locat ed in m iddle of control console, it cont rols the maximum f or ward speed and is infinitely variable from neutral (0 mph) t o 6.2 mph. Park brake must be disengaged bef ore speed control lever is moved out of neut r al or engine will kill.
13 Pull the lever up and rearw ard to eng age the brak e. Push the lever forw ard and down to diseng ag e the brake. W hen park ing on a steep slope, t he wheels must be chock ed or blocked in addition to the br ak e being engag ed. The unit m ust be tied down and brake engaged when transpor t ing .
14 NOTE: A cold w eather start i ng ki t has been added for ease of starti ng i n either cold w eather or w hen the unit has not been run for a period of time. To use co ld start kit: a) Pull split r ing straight out the side of t he unit, and hook t he ring over the lower front hydro cont r o l shield bolt .
15 (or the index f inger on the f ront lobe) and r ot at e t hem f rom under t he drive levers. Slowly and carefully release the dr ive lev er s. See Figur e 2 ( d) . To place the dr ive levers in the “ r everse” posit ion, squeeze the drive levers past the neutral posit ion.
16 DA NGER POTENT IAL HAZARD ♦ An uncovered discharge opening will allow objects to be thr own in an operator’s or bystander ’s dir ect ion. Also, contact with the blade could occur. W HAT CAN HAPPEN ♦ Thrown objects or blade cont act can cause serious injury or death.
17 4. MAINTENA NCE & A DJUSTMENTS WA RNING POTENT IAL HAZARD ♦ W hile maint enance or adj ustments are being made, som eone could st ar t the engine. W HAT CAN HAPPEN ♦ Accidental start ing of the eng ine could seriously injure you or other bystanders.
18 b) Clean all debris f rom eng ine air intak e scr een and f rom around eng ine shrouding. 4.1.3 Clean grass build-up under deck and check m ower blades: Serv ice Interv al: Daily CA UTION POTENT IAL HAZARD ♦ Raising the m ower deck f or service or maintenance relying solely on mechanical or hydraulic jacks could be dang erous.
19 4.1.4 Check saf ety interlock system : Serv ice Interv al: Daily a) For your saf ety, your Exmark m ower is eq uipped with Oper at or Presence Controls (O PC) . W hen either the PTO is eng aged, or t he speed control lever is not in neutral and bot h hands ar e r em oved f rom the handles, t he mower engine MUST stop.
20 4.1.8 Check hydraulic oil level : Serv ice Interv al: 40 hr. a) St op eng ine and wait for all moving par ts to stop. b) Clean ar ea ar ound hydraulic r eser voir cap and r em ove cap. O il level should be to the top of the baf fle inside the t ank .

Raise the rear of the machine up onto j ack stands hig h enoug h to raise the drive wheels off t he g round. b) Check oil level as stated in Section 4.1. 8. c) Start eng ine an m ove thr o t t le control ahead to f ull thrott le posit ion.
22 4.1.12 Inspect Belt wear : Serv ice Interv al: 40 hrs. a) St op engine and wait for all m oving par ts to stop. Eng age park ing brake. Remove key or spark plug wire(s). b) Remo ve mower deck belt shield t o check mower blade drive belt condition. c) Look under eng ine deck to check the pump drive belt condition.
23 4.1.15 Remove engine shr ouds and clean cooling fins : Serv ice Interv al: See Engine Ow ner's Manual a) St op eng ine and wait for all moving par t s to stop. Eng age park ing brake. Remove key or spark plug wire(s). b) Remo ve cooling shr ouds f rom eng ine and clean cooling f ins.
24 4.2 A DJUSTMENTS 4.2.1 Adjusting cut t ing height with blade spacers : Blades may be adjusted f or cutting heig ht by using the f our 1/4" (. 64 cm ) spacer s found on t he blade spindle bolt s ( f actory setting is two above and tw o below). T his allows a 1" (2.

29 3. Squeeze the respective drive lever until an increased resist ance is felt, this is where neutral should be. If t he wheel turns while holding the drive lever in neutral, t he neut ral control link ag es need to be adjusted. I f wheel stop then go to st ep 7.

Recheck the lef t drive wheel rotation to see if fur t her adjustment is necessary - be sure the speed cont r ol lever is in t he neut r al position.
31 3. Make this adj ustment f or both sides. e) Tracking Adj ustment 1. Stop engine and wait f or all m oving parts to st op. Engage par k ing brake. Raise t he r ear of the m achine, r em ove jack stands and caref ully lower the machine t o t he ground.
32 b) Check blade spacers on each blade, the axle positions on each side of the unit, and the spacers on each f ront caster wheel. They must be eq ual. c) Check cast er mounting br ack ets to be sure all bolt s ar e tight. d) C heck blades tip to tip for straightness.
