3 Introducing y our V entSur face Congratulations on y our new purchase . Y our F isher & P aykel V entSur face is the ultimate in extrac tor hoods, g iving you diff erent modes and extraction speeds to suit your changing needs. Y our V entSur face can also operate and turn off automatically and alerts you when it needs cleaning.
4 Safety and warnings W ARNING! Hot Sur face Hazar d Make sure the elements or gas burners of the c ooking sur face alway s hav e pans/pots on them and never heat the filt er(s) of your applianc e directly . When frying, never lea ve pans una ttended as there is a risk of the oil ov erheating and catching fir e .
5 Using y our V entSur face 1 23 4 5 6 1 F an on/off (Stand-by) 2 Decreases fan speed 3 Mode, speed and cleaning alert display 4 Increases fan speed 5 Timer 6 Lamps on/off Using y our V entSur face f or the first time or after a long holiday 1 Make sure your cooker or c ooktop is turned off and there ar e no draughts in the room.
6 Using y our V entSur face Choosing between normal and high pow er modes These two modes giv e you flexibility and optimum V entSur face per formance t o suit your changing cooking activities.
7 Using y our V entSur face Using y our V entSur face in aut omatic mode When the V entSur face is in automatic mode, its sensor will automatically turn the fan on, adjust its speed and turn the fan off as needed. T o illuminate your c ooking area, press the button.
8 Using the timer (in manual mode only) When the timer is activated the V entSur face will run for 10 minutes and then turn off automatically . the selected fan speed will flash in the display while the timer is counting down. T o ac tivate the timer 1 Select a fan speed bet ween “1” and “5” .
9 Car e and cleaning Impor tant! Always disc onnect the appliance from the mains electricity supply before carrying out any ser vicing or maintenance . F ailure to do so may result in death or elec trical shock. Do not let grease deposits accumulate on your V entSur face , as these could create a fire hazard .
10 T o replac e the carbon filter 1 Stop/reset the carbon filt er aler t signal . If “C” is flashing in the display alternately with the fan speed setting , turn the V entSur face off by pressing the button, then press the and buttons simultaneously and hold down for fiv e seconds until you hear a beep .
11 Car e and cleaning Cleaning the stainless steel sur faces Do not use abrasive cleaners, cloths or pads t o clean your V entSur face. Wipe the stainless steel sur faces often, using warm water and a mild household detergent. The stainless steel may also be cleaned with a suitable cleaner and polish.
12 T roubleshooting T roubleshooting chart Pr oblem Cause What t o do “ A “ flashing alternately with the fan speed setting. The aluminium mesh filter needs cleaning (automatic aler t). Clean the aluminium mesh filter following the instructions in ‘ Care and cleaning ’ .
