6 INST ALLA TION ■ How to Mount Blackbird 2 3 5 4 Find a spot suitable for the navigation system. Ensure that both the suction cup and windshield area ar e clean and free of dirt and gr ease before attaching it. Stick the suction cup mount against the windshield.
7 ■ How to Reset Blackbird In the event the system requir es a reset, pull over in a safe and legal manner befor e doing so. Insert a paper clip or similar object into the reset hole (located under the GPS antenna in the upper left hand corner of the recessed area) and depr ess the reset button for at least 1 second.

Press and hold Power Button for 2 seconds. Opening screen appears. Read carefully . T ouch I Accept to dis- play map. The last-known current location is indicated on the map. To Tu r n O f f Press and hold Power Button for 2 seconds. T o T urn On Power Power Button Select the place with correct addr ess.

12 MAP FUNCTION Click this icon to switch between Estimated Time Remaining and Estimated Time of Arrival. Note: The time estimates are based on the average speed. The estimate time will vary depending on vehicle speed. The arrow always points toward the destination.
T ouch anywhere on map screen. The current location arr ow changes to Crosshair Cursor on the screen. Move the cursor to the new desired street. Note: Use Map Scale Bar to zoom out the map if the destination is far from the curr ent location. T ouch .
14 DESTINA TION ■ Setting a Destination by Address Finding a Destination by Street Name First OK to Proceed Set the destination and display a map. Change Method Find an alternative way . (Refer to page 22.) Go to Main Menu . ➔ Destination ➔ Address 1 ■ Confirm Destination Screen Select Input Street Name .

T ype the first few characters of the city name and press OK . If there ar e unique matches, the system will automati- cally display a short list of city names.
Y ou can select from approximately 6 Million Point-of-Inter est (POI) locations stored inside your Blackbird Portable Navigation System. These destinations ar e sorted by Place Name or by Place T ype and are listed in order of distance fr om your current location.
Select By Place T ype . Select a desired POI Category . There ar e 37 POI categories to choose from including A TMS, Banks, Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, Hotels, Parking Lots, Restaurants and more.
Go to Main Menu . ➔ Destination ➔ Coordinate Enter the Latitude of your destination. T ouch OK . Enter the Longitude of your destination. T ouch OK . Confirmation screen appears. T ouch OK to Proceed to set the destination and start guidance. 4 3 2 1 Go to Main Menu .
Go to Main Menu . ➔ Destination ➔ Intersection 1 Finding a Destination by Street Name Select Input Street Name . T ype in the street name. T ouch OK . The list of applicable street names appears. Select the desired str eet. Input the second street name.
■ Saving a Destination into the Address Book 20 OPTIONS ■ Find Local Places T ouch anywhere on map scr een. The current location arr ow changes to cross hair cursor on the screen. T ouch . Select Find Local Places . Select the desired category . Select the desired place.
21 ■ Setting Waypoints T ouch anywhere on map scr een. The current location arr ow changes to cross hair cursor on the screen. Move the cursor to the desired waypoint. T ouch . Select Set as waypoint and select Re-calculate . When the route sear ch is complete, the current location is displayed.

23 R OUTE ■ Recalling the Maneuver List during Guidance Go to Main Menu . ➔ Route T ouch Maneuver List . List of upcoming streets and turns appears on the screen.
24 EDIT ■ Editing Home Go to Main Menu . ➔ Edit T ouch Edit Home . “ Edit Home Point” screen appears. See below for details. 3 2 1 Locations and Home addresses saved in the Addr ess Book can be edited for quick recall. Also information including phone numbers and icons can be modified.
25 Go to Main Menu . ➔ Edit T ouch Edit Address Book The list of addresses appears. Select the destination you need to modify . “Edit Address Item” scr een appears. See below for details. Note: Select DELETE ALL to delete all addresses saved in the addr ess book.
26 TRAFFIC ■ Viewing T raffic Incident List T o access the T raffic Incident List scr een from the Main Menu, touch T raffic , or from the map screen, touch TRF located on the left side of the screen. T raffic Incident List scr een appears and pro- vides a list of traffic incidents in your curr ent area or along your curr ent route.
27 Calculating a Detour T o have the system analyze the traffic data within 30 miles of your current location, touch Detour . If the system finds traf fic congestion along your route, it will display a message including both the distance to the congestion and the anticipated delay the conges- tion may cause.

29 ■ Customizing Guidance T urning Voice On and Off This allows you to turn ON or OFF guidance voice prompts. Changing Navi Mix Volume This allows you to vary the volume of the voice prompts with r espect to the music. Setting Estimate Time Display Estimated Time of Arrival (ET A) or Estimated Time Remaining (ETR) can be set here.
30 SETUP ■ Customizing T raffic Information Y ou can choose the way your traffic and navigation information is dis- played using the traffic information setup contr ols. Go to Main Menu Select Setup Select T raffic The T raffic Setup menu appears and displays the system status and traffic setup options.
31 Displaying T raffic Speed and Flow Icons Y ou can choose whether or not the system displays traffic speed and flow information as icons on the map screen when the information is received. T o the right of Speed Flow , touch Sho w or Hide to make your selection.

33 Go to Main Menu . ➔ Information Select GPS Status . 2 1 Y ou can view the dynamic location information received fr om satellite such as signal strength, compass (direction information), latitude/longitude, approximate altitude, and speed. This featur e allows you to view GPS satellite signal information.
34 ■ Playing Music on Y our Blackbird Y ou can play MP3 or WMA music files* from your SD or MMC car d. Y our music can be arranged in sub- folders for easy retrieval when using your Blackbird device. *Blackbird only curr ently supports MP3 and WMA files without DRM.
35 UPD A TING THE SY STEM ■ How to Update the New Software and Map Database Using your home PC, Blackbird can be updated with the latest mapping and Point of Interest information. Please r efer to instructions included with the update software on how to upgrade your Blackbir d system.
If you encounter a problem, please r eview the items in the following checklist. This guide will help you isolate the problem if the unit is at fault. Otherwise make sure the r est of your system is p.
