Place a pan of food on the unit before turning it on, and turn the unit off before removing the pan. • Use proper pan size —This appliance is equipped with one or more surface units of different sizes.
6 BEFORE SETTING OVEN CONTROLS Oven vent location The oven vent is located under the left rear surface element (See Fig. 1). When the oven is on, warm air passes through the vent. This venting is necessary for proper air circulation in the oven and good baking results.
7 Use proper cookware Fig. 2 BEFORE SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS • Flat bottom and straight sides. • Tight fitting lids. • Weight of handle does not tilt cookware. Cookware is well balanced. • Cookware size matches the amount of food to be prepared and the size of the surface element.
8 SETTING SURFACE CONTROLS Operating surface elements To operate surface elements: 1 . Place correctly sized cooking utensil on surface element. 2 . Push in and turn the surface control knob (See Fig. 1). in either direction to the desired setting. Start most surface cooking on a higher setting and then turn to a lower setting to finish.

Dark or dull pans absorb more heat than shiny bakeware resulting in dark or overbrowning of foods. It may be necessary to reduce the oven temperature or cook time to prevent overbrowning of some foods.
