2 LifeBook P1600 Notebook BIOS LifeBook P Series Notebook BIOS BIOS SETUP UTILITY The BIOS Setup Utility is a program that sets up the operating en vironment for y our notebook. Y our BIOS is set at the factor y for normal operating conditions, therefor e there i s no need to set or change the BIOS en vironment to o perate your notebook.
3 1. W hen you turn on or restart the computer the re is a beep and/ or the follow in g message app ears on the screen: Error message - please run SETUP program Press <F1> key to continue, <F2> to run SETUP 2.
4 LifeBook P1600 Notebook BIOS MAIN MENU - SETTING ST AN DARD SYSTEM P ARAMETERS The Main M enu allows y ou to set or view the current system parameters.
5 Drive0: Selects Primary Master submenu –— Displays the type of device on this Se rial A T A/IDE interface, if there is one. Pressing the Enter key selects the Drive0 submenu allowing additional device configuration option s for this interface.

7 Exiting fr om Main M enu W hen you ha ve finished setting the parameters on this menu, y ou can either exit from the setup utility , or move to another menu. If y ou wish to exit from the setup utility , press the [ Esc ] key or use the cursor keys to go to the Exit menu.
8 LifeBook P1600 Notebook BIOS ADV ANCED MENU - SETTING DEVICE FEA TURE CONTROLS The Ad vanced M enu allows y ou to: ■ Configur e your serial and parallel port configurations (Microsoft W indows XP P ro only). ■ T urn NumLock on or off. ■ Select between the display panel and an e xternal CR T display .
9 Internal Device Configurations When selected, op ens the Internal Device Configurat ions submenu, wh ich allows enabling or disabling the IDE, LAN, and modem controllers. CPU Features When selected, ope ns the CPU Features submenu, which allow s confi guration of CPU performance features.

17 Hardware Power Management: ■ Disabled ■ Enabled (Level1) ■ Enabled (Level2) [Enabled (Level1)] This allows you to enable or disa ble the runn ing of Hardware Pow er Management. Level1 is standard hardware management; Level2 is deeper than Level1.
