1. OPER A TION 1-3 1.4 Selecting a Displa y The RD-30 has f our display types, dig ital, graph, graph ic (analog) and h ighway . The operator m ay arrange data for five displa ys and show them in the order desired. Availabilit y of data depends on t he sensors connect ed.

OPER A T ION 1-6 The highway display The highway displa y provides a graphic presen tation of ship’s progress to wa rds a destination, t ogether with ra nge and beari ng to the dest inat ion, and s hip’s course and speed. T o choose this displa y , select HI GHWA Y from the USER DISPLA Y SETUP m enu, referring to the procedure on page 1-8.
1. OPER A TION 1-7 Selecting the display range f or the highwa y displa y Y ou m ay select the display range f or the high way display am ong 0.2, 0. 4, 0.8, 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 nautical m iles. (Nautical m iles is the default range unit ; kilom eter and statute m ile are also available.

1. OPER A TION 1-15 1.7 A larms The RD-30 has ten con ditions which can t rigger audio and visual alarms : speed, water tem perature, depth, arrival/anchor watch, cross-track error , trip distance (two alarm s), countdown timer , alarm clock, no position f ixing and no position data.
1. OPERA TION 1-16 1.7.2 Speed alarm The speed alarm warns w hen your boat ’ s speed is lower or higher than the speed setting, or is inside or out side of the speed range sett ing. 1. Press the [MENU] key once or t wice to show the main m enu. 2. Select ALARM1 and then press t he [ ENT] key.
1. OPER A TION 1-17 4. Select alarm type desired and then press the [E NT ] key. OFF: T urns of f the water tem perat ure alarm . LOW: Alar m triggered when the water temperat ure is low er than the water temperat ure setting. HIGH: Alarm triggered when the water temperat ure is higher t han the water temperat ure setting.
1. OPERA TION 1-18 1.7.5 Arriv al alarm, anchor w atch alarm The arrival alarm informs you that your boat is approac hing a dest inat ion waypoint. The area that def ines an arrival zone is that of a circle which you approach f rom the outside of the circle.
1. OPER A TION 1-19 5. If you turned on the alar m, press the [E NT] key and then use the cursor pad to enter the alarm setting: Use ◄ or ► to select location, and press ▲ or ▼ to enter value. 6. Press the [E NT] key. 7. Press the [ MENU] key twice to close the m enu.
1. OPER A T ION 1-20 1.7.8 Odometer ala rm The odomet er alarm inform s you when your vessel has traveled the di stance you have set. Its funct ion is similar to the trip alarm except its maximum sett ing is 999 (nm). 1. Press the [MENU] key o nce or twice to show the m ain menu.

OPER A TION 1-27 1.13 Simulation Mode A sim ulat ion mode, showing intern ally generat e d navigation data, is provided to acquaint you with the f eatures of the RD-30. “SIM” appears on the displ ay when the simulat ion mode is turned on. 1. 1. OPE RA TION 1-30 1.17 Heading Sen sor PG-1000, C-200 0 Setup Set up the headin g sen sor PG1000, C-2000 on the HDG SET UP menu, with the heading sensor connect ed to t he AUX port. Note that no data is t r ansm itted from the IN/O UT port when the HDG SETUP menu is displayed.

1. OPER A T ION 1-32 Offset If t here is a dif ference bet ween sensor bearing and act ual bearing, ent er it as below . For exam ple, if the sensor shows 70° and the actual beari ng is 75°, enter +5(°). 10. Choose O FFSET and press the [ENT ] key .

Only qualified personnel should work inside the equipment. 2.1 Maintenance Check the f ollo wing points regularly to maint ain perform ance: • Check that connections on t he rear pan el are firm ly tightened and f ree of dust.

2. MAIN TENANCE, TROUBL ESHOOTING 2-3 8. The equipm ent beeps and then displa ys the f ollowing m essage to inform you that it is no w going to check the LCD: <LCD CHECK> ALL ON 2 SEC. ALL OFF 3 SEC. LCD CHECK screen 9. The LCD is checked an d then the entire t est is repeated.
2. MAIN TENANCE, TROUBL ESHOOTING 2-4 READY FOR BATTERY CHANGE. PRESS ANY KEY TO SHUT DOWN. Battery exchange confirmation w indo w 5. Press any key to shut down the equipm ent . 6.
