A ttention Mac OS X Users G-DRIVE is set up at the factor y for use with Mac OS X systems. If you ar e running Mac OS X, G-DRIVE will mount on the OS X desktop right out of the box. If it becomes necessary to re - format G-DRIVE f or Mac OS X, go here.

2. Select the Erase tab to view the formatting options. By default, the F ormat is set to Mac OS Extended (Jour naled), as indicated in the F or mat category . 3. Choose the F ormat: • Set the format to Mac OS Extended (Jour naled) if you intend to use G-DRIVE f or Time Machine or to create a separate bootable installation of OS X.
4. Click the Erase Button in the low er corner of the window . 5. A dialog box will launch after clicking the button. W ARNING : THIS NEXT STEP WILL ERASE ALL DA T A ON Y OUR DRIVE. 5. Click on the Erase button to c ontinue. A progr ess bar in the lower right corner of the windo w will show you the pr ogress of the disk’ s ref ormatting.
If you wish to use the drive f or T ime Machine, you can click on the Use as Backup Disk button. F or more inf o about setting up the G-DRIVE with Time Machine, go here . After reinitializing , the icon for the G-DRIVE has been erased. Y ou can restor e it.
Using G-DRIVE with T ime Machine G-DRIVE is a per fect candidate to use with Apple Time Machine. Time Machine provides automatic backup f or your crucial les. The following st eps will guide you in setting up the G-DRIVE with Time Machine. F ormat the drive as Mac OS Extended ( Journaled) as described in “R eformatting f or Mac OS X” here.
Reforma tting with Multiple Partitions Y ou can r eformat the G-DRIVE to ha ve multiple partitions. The following st eps will guide you through this pr ocess. Open Apple Disk Utility . Disk Utilit y is in the Utilities F older located in the Applications F older on the Macintosh HD (or press Shift + Command + U to open the Utilities f older).
• Choose a F ormat from the F ormat M enu (for mor e info on f ormats go here). • T ype in a Size for the par tition • Click the Apply button 5. After clicking on the Apply button. The dialog bo x, as shown on the on the next page, will appear .
7.When partitioning is complete , G-DRIVE par titions will be displayed in the left- hand panel of Apple Disk Utility . 8.Reset the G-DRIVE icons as described here . 10.Exit Apple Disk Utility . G-DRIVE will be displayed on the desktop as shown, right.
