4 0 DVD Recor der+VCR User ’ s Guide A bou t Re c o r di ng About Disc T ypes/F ormats • DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+R W discs are always f ormatted in “ Video” mode— the same as pre-recor ded DVD-Video discs. Once finalized, you can play DVD-R, DVD+R, or DVD+R W discs in most regular DVD play ers.
4 1 Recor ding from T V T o record a T V show to a DVD or VHS tape: 1 T ur n on the DVD Recorder+VCR and load a recordable disc or tape . • Make sure your T V input is set to view the DVD Recorder+VCR. 2 Pr ess DVD to control the DVD deck, or VCR to contr ol the VCR deck.

4 5 C opying D VD to V CR T o copy a DVD to VHS tape: 1 Inser t the disc you wish to c opy in the DVD deck and close the tray . 2 Inser t a blank VHS tape in the VCR deck.
4 6 DVD Recor der+VCR User ’ s Guide A bou t E di ti ng Editing T erminology The follo wing are editing terms used by this DVD Recorder+VCR: Title – A recor ding (such as a T V show) on a DVD . Each time you star t a new recording , a new title is created .
4 7 E di ti ng O pt io ns Adding C hapter Markers +R, +RW , -R W ( VR) Y ou can divide your titles up in to chapters by adding chapter markers during playback or recor ding. 1 Pr ess DISC MENU/LIST . 2 Select a recorded title and press PLA Y . 3 During playback, press ADD CHAP t o add a chapter marker at the current playback position.
4 8 DVD Recor der+VCR User ’ s Guide Making a New Pla ylist -RW ( VR) Y ou can creat e a custom playlist of the contents of a DVD-RW ( VR mode) disc. Y ou can then edit this playlist without disturbing the original contents of the disc. 1 Pr ess DISC MENU/LIST .
4 9 Deleting Titles/Chapters +R, +RW , -R, -RW ( Video), -RW ( VR) There are tw o places to delete titles and chapters: Pla ylist Menu (DVD-R W only) - If you delete a title or chapt er from the “Playlist” menu, it is only r emoved from the playlist; the title/chapt er remains in the “Original” menu.

5 9 Handling Discs • Do not touch the play- back side of the disc. • Hold the disc by the edges so that finger - prints will not get on the sur face • Do not stick paper or tape on the disc. Storing Discs • After playing , store the disc in its case.
