– 2 – Thank you for purchasing this water heater . Properly inst alled and maint ained, it will provide years of trouble free service. This manual gives instructions for the proper inst al- lation, safe operation and maintenance of this water heater .
– 3 – R elief V alv e R equir ements For protection against excessive pressure and/or tempera- tures, an ASME approved T emperature and Pressure (T&P) Relief V alve must be inst alled in the opening provided and labeled near the hot water outlet.

– 6 – Air R equir ements An adequate supply of combustion and ventilation air is required to: • Ensure proper combustion. • Reduce risk of property damage, severe bodily injury or death from possible flue gas leakage and carbon monoxide emissions.

It shall also have a combustion air supply opening so that the tot al air received through the opening will be at least as much as would be admitted by openings having a tot al free area of 4.

W ARNING! The temperature and pressure relief valve must be manually operated at least once a year . Caution should be t aken to ensure that: 1. No one is in front of or around the outlet of the temper- ature and pressure relief valve discharge line. 2.
– 15 – • Black water can be an indication of organic cont ami- nates in the water supply . This can be problematic in areas where the water is obt ained from surface or cont- aminated sources. Organic p articles can develop bacte- rial growth, causing potential health hazards.
