2 This product is intended for household use only . This appliance is equipped with a polarized plug. This type of plug has one blade wider than the other . The plug will fit into an electrical outlet only one way . This is a safety feature intended to help r educe the risk of electrical shock.
5 4 Before First Use • Steam vents should be cleaned before first use. Pr epare ir on for steam ironing, then ir on over an old cloth for a few min- utes while letting the iron steam. This will clean the vents. • Many ir ons spit or sputter during the first few uses with tap water .
7 6 Automatic Shutoff Light and Reset Button If the iron is an Automatic Shutof f model, the light comes on when the iron is first plugged in. After 1 hour the iron will shutof f and the light will go out. Push the Reset Button to turn the iron back on for another hour of ironing.
9 8 Caring for Y our Iron and Soleplate 1. The W ater T ank of your ir on should be emptied after each use. T ur n T emperatur e Control Dial to OFF . Unplug the iron and hold over a sink. T ur n iron upside down until W ater T ank Opening is parallel with sink.
11 10 LIMITED WARRANTY This product is warranted to be free fr om defects in material and workmanship for a period of two (2) years for Hamilton Beach Portfolio products or one (1) year for Hamilton Beach products from the date of original pur chase, except as noted below .
