ELECTRICAL SAFETY 4. Grounded tools m ust be plugged into an outlet properly installed and grounded in accor dance with all codes and ordinances. Never remove the grounding pr ong or modify the plug in any way . Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a qualified electrician if y ou are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properl y gr ounded.
12. A void accidental starting. Be sure the P ower Switc h is off before plug ging in. Carr ying power tools with y our finger on the P ower Switch, or plugging in pow er tools with the P ower Switch on, in vites accidents. 13. Remove adjusting ke ys or wrenches bef ore turning the power tool on.

6. If you are using an e xtension cord outdoors, mak e sure it is marked with the suf- fix “W -A” (“W” in Canada) to indicate it is acceptab le f or outdoor use. 7. Make sure y our extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition.
UNP A CKING When unpacking, chec k to mak e sure all the par ts shown in Figure C are included. If an y par ts are missing or broken, please call Harbor F reight T ools at the number sho wn on the cov er of this manual as soon as possib le.
Prepare Material Before Cutting 1. Suppor t large panels to minimize risk of blade pinching and sa w kickback. 2. Use the supplied Rip Guide (402) when ripping mater ial b y sliding it into the Base Assy . and tightening Wing Bold (58). See Figures F and G below .
Cutting Caution: V erify that saw blade is securel y tightened and both angle and height adjusting knobs are tight. 1. If desired f or a straight cut, slide the Rip Guide (402) into the side of the Circular Saw and tighten with Wing Bolt (58), or clamp a straight edge to the material to guide the saw on a str aight path.
Replacing the Carbon Brushes 1. Unscre w the Brush Caps (30). 2. Pull out the Carbon Brush (29) from each side of the motor and e xamine them. If the y are wor n more than half w a y down, replace them. It could be that they are simply dir ty . The y can be cleaned using an ink eraser .
