4 SAFETY INFORMATION SAFETY INFORMATION Important Safety Information V erify Line Voltage Before Use Y our DPR 1001 has been designed for use with 120- volt AC current. Connection to a line voltage other than that for which it is intended can create a safety and fire hazard and may damage the unit.

6 FRONT PANEL CONTROLS FRONT PANEL CONTROLS This button is also used to switch between Stereo and Mono modes for FM radio reception. When weak reception is encountered, press the button to switch to the Mono mode . Press it again to switch back to Stereo mode .

8 REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS REAR PANEL CONNECTIONS ¡ FM Antenna: Connect the supplied indoor (or an optional external) FM antenna to this terminal. ™ AM Antenna: Connect the AM loop antenna sup- plied with the receiver to these ter minals . Connect the black antenna wire marked GND to the top terminal screw on the DPR with the grounding symbol.

Before using the remote , it is important to remember to press the Input Selector Button 3 that corresponds to the unit you wish to operate .

When it is used in a remote room with a sensor that is connected to the Multiroom IR Jack £ , this button turns the Multiroom system off .
14 INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS INSTALLATION AND CONNECTIONS System Installation After unpacking the unit, and placing it on a solid surface capable of supporting its weight, you will need to make the connections to your audio and video equipment.

16 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION SYSTEM CONFIGURATION When all audio , video and system connections have been made , there are a few configuration adjustments that must be made . A few minutes spent to correctly configure and calibrate the unit will greatly add to your listening experience .

18 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION SYSTEM CONFIGURATION Input Setup The first step in configuring the DPR 1001 is to config- ure each input. When using the full-OSD system to make the setup adjustments , press the OSD Button once so that the MAIN menu (Figure 1) appears .

These are used with DVD or other Dolby Digital sources such as digital cable or some high-definition television programs where Dolby Digital is used to carry the soundtrack, but the soundtrack itself is only two-channel stereo .

26 OPERATION OPERATION Surround Mode Chart MODE FEA TURES Dolby Digital Available only with digital input sources encoded with Dolby Digital data. It provides up to five separate main audio channels and a special dedicated Low-Frequency Effects channel.
OPERATION 27 OPERATION An optional, external RF demodulator is required to use the DPR 1001 to listen to the Dolby Digital sound- tracks available on laser discs . Connect the RF output of the LD player to the demodulator and then connect the digital output of the demodulator to the Optical or Coaxial Inputs k ÔÒ of the DPR 1001.
28 OPERATION OPERATION • When a digital source is playing, you may not be able to select some of the analog surround modes such as Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby 3, Stereo , Hall, Theater or Logic 7.

Y ou may switch the front panel Digital Coax Jack Ò or the Video 4 Jacks Ú from an input to an output by following these steps: 1.
30 ADVANCED FEATURES ADVANCED FEATURES The DPR 1001 is equipped with a number of advanced features that add extra flexibility to the unit’s operation. While it is not necessary to use these fea- tures to operate the unit, they provide additional options that you may wish to use .
MULTIROOM OPERATION 31 MULTIROOM OPERATION To change the length of time that the semi-OSD dis- plays remain on the screen, go to the ADVANCED menu as outlined earlier , and press the ⁄ / ¤ Navigation Buttons n as needed, until the SEMI OSD TIME OUT line is highlighted in reverse video .
32 CONFIGURING THE REMOTE Multiroom Operation When operating the DPR 1001 from a remote room location where an IR sensor link has been connected to the DPR 1001’s rear -panel Multiroom IR Input £ , you may use either the main remote control or the Zone II remote .
