-10- GPSmile51 Getting Started If you are a first-time system user, the following explanations will help you quickly understand the system opera tio ns, and expe rienc e the system’s powerful and co nvenient functions. 1. Battery in stallation This system uses a proprietary Lithium b attery, charg e after installation.
-11- GPSmile51 6. Experience the GPS navigation Startup > select [GPS] > press [F ind] key > enter the destination screen > select [Area] > select ci ty > zoom in/out or scroll map t.
-12- GPSmile51 Connecting to AC Adapter and C harging Before using the device for the first time, we st ron gly sugge st you u se a fully charged battery. 1. Insert the USB connector into the adapter. 2. Insert the other end into the power port under the uni t.
-13- GPSmile51 z Lithium batteries do not need to be discharged. Do not w ait until the battery is depleted to r echarge. z When not in use for a l ong peri od, charg e the batt ery every t wo weeks to preven t excessive dis charge af f ecting batt ery performance.

Finally, insert the GPS unit onto the bas e. 9 When using the in-veh icle secure bracket, do not install in a location that will block the view of the dr iver 9 Recommended installation requirements: The bracket base should be restin g securely on the dashboard to prevent exc essive shock.
-16- GPSmile51 Using the Car Charger While using the device in a vehicle, use the in cluded car charger for long periods of usage. 1. Plug i n the small p lug into th e po wer ja ck on the rear of the in vehicle bracket. 2. Insert the other end into the cigarette lighter.
-17- GPSmile51 Operating Methods Startup 1. Press and hold the power button for about two se conds to tu rn on the power. Shutdown 2. While power is on, press the po we r button to turn o ff power. During the first startup, the screen will show the main screen consis ting of four functions: navigation, music, photo, and settings.
-18- GPSmile51 Using the Function Buttons Control the main functions with the buttons on the ri ght hand side. 1 Find-Target Hotkey Fast forward to the target window, this window provides 7 location searches enabling quick setting of dest inatio ns.
-19- GPSmile51 Using the Stylus The stylus is the main tool for oper ating this unit . Use the stylus t o select icons/items on the screen, scroll around the map onscreen, or even input hand written data. The stylus is concealed in the pen slot on the ba ck, pull out and extend for easy usag e.
-20- GPSmile51 Using the SD Memory Card This unit is equipped with a SD memo ry card slot; you can purchase SD (Secure Digital) Cards to expand the me mory capacity. Insert the memory card as below: With the metal contacts of the memory card facing back, insert the card into the slot on th e right side of the unit.
-21- GPSmile51 9 The included memory card contains the digital ma p files that are required for the GPS navigation al data. Please do not delete . 9 When removing the memory card, pl ease make sure t he card is not reading data, or it will cause a system crash.
-22- GPSmile51 Setting The setting function give s you the ability to ad just the bas ic system options, including time settings, vo lume control, screen calibration, startup message, backlight se tting, ve rsion info, and G PS reset etc. You can modify the settings according to personal preferences.
-23- GPSmile51 [Volume] 1. Under the settings window, contro l the volume directly with the scroll bar. There are six leve ls of volum e in total. Scroll bar [Startup Message] 1. Under the settings window, select [Warning Voice] On or Off for whether the startup message is to be broadcas t.
-24- GPSmile51 [Stylus Adjustment] Control of the unit is acc omplishe d primarily through the stylus by touching/writing on the screen. If th e system cannot correctly ide ntify your stylus’ input, pleas e run throug h the screen ca libration proce dure.
-25- GPSmile51 6. To finish the calibration procedur e, press the Enter key to accept the new settings. Press the Esc key to keep the old settings . 7. Select to go back to the main menu screen. Backlight Settings The backlight settings will a djust the brightness of the backlight and the auto-off time.

-27- GPSmile51 Help 1. Under the settings window, select [H elp] to enter the help window. 2. The screen display will show inst ructions for operation of music playback and image bro wsing functions.
-28- GPSmile51 Music Playback Function This unit has an MP3 Mu sic Playback function that is capable of playing back MP3 files stored on SD memory cards. Storing MP3 files onto SD memory cards On your computer, you must first co nvert t he music from an audio CD into MP3 files, then save them on to the SD memory c ard.

Adding/removing a song from the play list will not copy or delete the actual file, it will only add/ remove it from the playlist.
-31- GPSmile51 4. The file will be added to the pa nel/playlist on the righ t. 5. Clicking the [Add All] button will add all songs currently in the left panel into the playlis t. 6. To remove a song from the playlis t, please select the song from the right panel and then c lick the [Delete] button.

-33- GPSmile51 Using the CD Appendix Troubleshooting System reset Only under extremely few circumstances will it be required to reb oot the system. Reset your system if the following situations occur: 1. Heavy lag experienc ed with screen refresh or operations, resu lting in an inoperable sy stem.

Quick Troubles hooting Power Cannot startup Insufficient battery charge, please connect to the adapter and restart system. If it comes into contact with water spray or is submerged it will se riously damage the components, resulting in irreve rsible damage.
