2 WELCOME Congratulations on your selection of a Honda multi-purpose pump! We are certain you will be pleased with your purchase of one of the finest pumps on the market. We want to help you get the best results from your new pump and to operate it safely .
3 P ARTS AND CONTROLS INITIAL PUMP SETUP Import ance of Proper Assembly Proper assembly is esse ntial to ope rator safety and the reliability of the machine. Any error or oversight made by the person assembli ng and servicing a machine can result in faulty operation, damage to the machine, or injury to the operator.
4 T ools Required 12 mm wrench T orque wre nch List of Loose Part s Carefully remove the p ump and loose parts from the carton and compare the loose part s against the following list. Contact the authorized Honda dealer from who m you pu rchased the pump if any of the loose parts shown are not incl uded with your pump.
5 Check Y our Pump For your safety, to ensure compliance with environmen tal regulations, and to maximize the service life of yo ur multi-purpose pum p, it is very important to take a few moments before you operate the pump to check its condition.
6 Approved Liquids The following tables list chemicals the multi-pu rpose pump is capable of pumping. Verify that the liquid to be pumped is listed in one of these tables. After each use, drain the pump chamber in to a suitable container and flush with fresh water.
7 2. Insert and remove the dipsti ck wit hout screwing it into the fill er neck. Check the oil level shown on the dipstick. 3. If the oil level is low , fi ll to the edge of the oil filler hole with the recommended oil. 4. Screw in the filler cap/dipstick securely.
8 If you need to leave the pump for any reason, alwa ys turn the engine OFF. Operator Responsibility It is the operator's resp onsibility to provide the necessa ry safeguards to protect people and property ag ains t chemical leakage. Refer to the handling instructions provided by th e ma nufacturer of the chemical before operating the pump.
9 S topping the Engine Emergency To stop the engine in an emergency, turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. Normal 1. Move the throttle lever fully to the right to the IDLE position. 2. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position. 3. T urn the fuel valve to the OFF position.
10 Maintenance Schedule 1. For professional commercial use, log hours of operation to determine proper mainte nance intervals. 2. Service more frequently wh en used in dusty areas. 3. These items should be serviced by an authori zed Honda servicing dealer , unless you have the proper tools and are mechanically proficient.
11 Air Filter Check the air filter after each use. Clean the filter eve ry 50 hours of use. Clean the filter more often when used in dusty areas. Replace the filter ever y 300 hours of use. A properly maintained air filter will hel p prevent dirt from entering your engine.
12 1. Disconnect the spark plug cap and remove any dirt from around the spark plug area. 2. Use a spark plug wrench to remove the spark plug. 3. Visually insp ect the spark plug. Discard it if the insulator is cracked, chipped, or fouled. 4. Measu re the plug gap with a suitable gauge.
13 TRANSPORTING Before Loading If the engine has been running, allow it to cool for at le ast 15 minutes before loading the pump on the tran sport vehicl e. A hot engine and exhaust system can burn you and can ignite some materials. When transporting the pump, be sure to keep it upright.
14 4. If the pump was filled with a chemical, follow the chemical manufacturer’s handling procedures. Clean the pump interior by removing the pump drain plug and flushing with fresh wate r . After fl ushi ng , drain the water from the pump chamber .
15 Pump Will Not Pump TECHNICAL INFORMA TION Serial Number Locations There are two serial numb ers, one for the engine and one for the frame. Record the engine and frame serial nu mbers in the space below . Y ou will ne ed these serial numbers when ordering parts and when making technica l or warranty inquiries.

18 A VOIDING FUEL-RELA TED PROBLEMS When maintained properly , your Honda pump should provide years of trouble-free opera tion. This includes the fuel system. Howeve r , gasoline can quickly deteriorate, causing st arting or running problem s and , in some cases, damage to t he fuel system.
