Instruction Manual F or Models WM5 1 /WM52/WM53 WM54/WM55/WM56 Congratulations on the pur chase of your new W ashing Machine. IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION Please read this instruction book thoroughly before installing and using your appliance for the first time .
W ARNING: This appliance must be earthed. F uses Y our appliance comes fitted with a plug and a 13A fuse. If y ou need to replace the fuse, only those rated at 13A and AST A approv ed to BS1362 should be used. T o change fuse, lift holder to vertical position and lift fuse out.

1. Choose a Loc ation... The choice of location f or your appliance will influence its pe rformance. ● Position wher e possible on a solid floor . V ibration may occur wi th a w ooden floor . ● T ake care with vinyl floor c overings. The weight of the appliance ma y cause indentations in some vinyl floor co verings.
W ARNINGS ● Before using appliance, remove tr ansit bracket , clamp and screws. Retain parts for future transportation. ● Do not remove concrete weight. Replace work top lid and 3 screws. Remove 2 screws and transit bracket, retain. Remove 1 screw and clamp , retain.
3. Connect to the W ater Supply ... ● Incoming hot and cold water pr essure should be between 3 and 150 psi (21 - 1034 Kpa). ● The temperatur e of the incoming household hot water supply shou ld ideally be 60°C and no higher than 70°C as this c ould cause damage to both your laundr y and appliance .
4. Connect to a Dr ainage Syst em... ● Do not remove hooked end support from drainage hose. ● Do not position standpipe near an electrical outlet. ● F or drainage into a standard work top sink ensure outlet pipe has a minimum bore of 32 mm. T o avoid syphoning ensure the end of the drainage hose is above the wat er level in the sink.

Button Selection T o selec t, press button and a colour band will become visible (Fig 1). Press again to cancel. Interlocking Door & Release L ever T o Open... Grip the door release lever and pull open the door (F ig 2). T o Close... Apply pressure at the 3 o ’clock position (Fig 3) un til the door clicks.
IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION: Before selecting a programme, ensure the ma ins button is in the ‘OFF’ position. Add detergen t and or conditioner to the dispenser drawer , see pages 14-15.

Spin only option... IMPORT ANT INFORMA TION: Before selecting a programme, ensure the ma ins button is in the ‘OFF’ position. T o selec t long spin, turn wash dial clockwise until pointer aligns with ( Fig 1). F or a shor t spin turn wash dial and align pointer to (F ig 2).
14 The Dispenser Dr awer Choose a Suitable Detergent ● Hotpoint recommend the P ersil range of detergent products. ● Select ‘ low suds ’ automatic powder , designed specifically for aut omatic washing machines or washer/dryers. ● F ollow manufacturer ’ s dosage recommendations.
Dispensing Liquid Detergent Refer to detergen t manufac turer’ s instruc tions for dosage and pour liquid into the compartment (Fig . 1). Note: The ‘Liquid D etergent’ M ain W ash Indicator features 3 lines which represent the dosage of liquid to be used (Fig.
