2 Safety and Maintenance Guidelines Important Safety Information A power cord is included with the monitor. If an other cord is used, u se only a power source a nd connectio n appropr iate for th is monitor.
Safety Precautions ● Use only a power sou rce and connection compa tible with this monitor, as indicated on the label/ back plate of the monito r. ● Be sure the total amp ere rating of the pr oduc.
Cleaning the Monitor 1. Turn off the m onitor and un plug the power cord from th e back of the unit. 2. Dust the monito r by wiping the scre en and the cabine t with a soft, clean ant istatic cloth. 3. For more difficult cleaning situations, use a 50/50 mix of wate r and Isopropyl al cohol.
3 Setting Up the Monitor Unpacking the Monitor 1. Unpack the monitor. Make sure all co ntents are included. Store the packing bo x. 2. Turn off the comp uter and other a ttached devices .
2. Slide the pedestal into the slot on the base (1) and tighten the large screw on th e bottom of the base (2) to secure the pedestal to the ba se. Figure 3-1 Assembling th e Base and Pede stal 3. Slide the monitor panel's hinge bracket i nto the open ing on top of the ped estal.
Connecting Monitor Cables CAUTION: Before connecting cables to the mo nitor, ensure that the compute r and monitor are powered off. The video source is determined by the video cable used. The moni tor will automatically determine which inputs have valid vid eo signals.
Connecting the DisplayPort Video Cable Connect one end o f the DisplayPort Digital Input ca ble to the back of the monitor and the other end connector to the input device.
Connecting the Power Cord 1. Follow all electrical and power warnings WARNING ! To reduce the risk of electric shock or damage to your equipment: Do not disable the power cord groundin g plug. The g rounding plug is an important safety feature. Plug the power cord into a grounded (earthed) electrical outlet.
Turning on the Monitor 1. Press the power but ton on the comput er to turn it on. 2. Press the power button on the front of the monitor to turn it on. CAUTION: Burn-in image damage may occur on monitors that display the same static image on screen for a prolon ged period of time .
2. Adjust the tilt by moving the top e dge of the monitor either t oward or away from you, without touching the screen. Figure 3-7 Tilt Adjustment Adjusting the Swivel The monitor allows a u sable range of motion with the swivel feature.
4 Operating the Monitor CD Software and Utilities The CD that is inclu ded with this monitor co ntai ns drivers an d software th at you can install on your computer. Installing Drivers If you determine that you need to update the driver s, you can install the mo nitor driver INF and ICM files from the CD, or downlo ad them from the Internet.
Front-Panel Controls Control buttons are located on the bottom ri ght of th e monitor. The button s are represente d by icons that become illumi nated when the ba r area on the front panel is touche d. Button Icon Description Source Chooses the video input source from the computer.
Using the On-Screen Disp lay (OSD) Use the On-Screen Display (OSD) to adjus t the screen image ba sed on your viewing pre ferences. To access the OSD, do the following: 1. If the monitor is n ot already on, press the Power button to turn on the monito r.
Icon Main Menu Options Sub-menu Options Description sRGB Sets your screen colors to adapt to the color standards used in the image technology industry.
Icon Main Menu Options Sub-menu Options Description OSD Transparency Adjust to view the background information through the OSD. OSD Timeout Sets the time in seconds that the OSD is visible after the last button is pressed. The factory default is 30 seconds.
Icon Main Menu Options Sub-menu Options Description DDC/CI Support Allows the computer to control some OSD menu features such as Brightness, Contrast, and Color Temper ature. Select: On Off The factory default is On. Bezel Power LED Turns the light (LED) in the Power button on and off.

● Check Video Cable — Indicates a video inp ut cable is not prope rly connected to the computer or monitor. ● OSD Lockout — T he OSD can be enabled or disabled by pressing and holding the Menu button on the front panel for 10 seconds. If the OSD is locked, the warn ing message OSD Lockout appears for 10 seconds.
A Troubleshooting Solving Common Problems The following table list s possible problems, the possible cause of each problem, and t he recommended solutions: Problem Soluti on Power LED is not on. Make sure the Power button is on, and the power cor d is properly connected to a grou nded power outlet and to the monitor.
Problem Soluti on No Plug and Play. In order for the Plug and Play f eature of the monitor to work, you need a computer and graphic card that are compatible with Plug and Play. Check with your comp uter manufacturer. Check the monitor's video cable, and make sure that no ne of the pins are bent.
Locating the Rating Label The rating label on the monitor provides the product nu mber and serial number. Yo u may need these numbers when contacting HP about yo ur monitor model.
