ENWW 3 E-mail 45 3 E-mail T o configure the embeded Send to e- mail featu re, yo u must either know the Inter net Protocol (IP) address or host name of the Simple Mail T ransf er Protocol (SMTP) server on yo ur network, or use the Find Servers men u option to attempt to locate the ser v er .
46 ENWW The MFP off ers color-scanning and digital-sending capabilitie s. Using the control panel, yo u can scan blac k-and-white or color do cuments and send them to an e- mail ad dress as an e-mail attachment. T o use digital sending, the MFP must be connected to a loca l area network (LAN).
ENWW 3 E-mail 47 Sending documents The MFP scans at a 600 pixels-per-inch (ppi) reso lut ion . Th e MF P sca n s both black-and- white and color originals.

ENWW 3 E-mail 49 A uthentication A uthentication is a security f eature . When the administrator has t ur ned on authentication, yo u must type you r ne twork credentials to use the MFP digital sendin g featur es.
50 Using the address book ENWW Using the address book The private address book and the local address book store frequently-u sed e-mail addresses . These books can be shared betw een MFPs that use the same server to access the HP MFP Digit al Sendin g software.

If the r ings-to-answer setting for the messaging ser vice is lower than the r ings-to-a ns wer setting for the fa x, the messaging ser vice ans wers the call and the fax is not able to receiv e fax es.
