In the Print dialog box, click the OK butt on to print the job. The product will print the first side of all the pages in the document first.
6. Retrieve the printed stac k from the output bin , and place it with the printed-side facing down, top edge first in the input tray. 7. At the computer , click the OK button to print the second side of the job. 8. If promp ted, touch or p ress the a ppropriate control pa nel button to continue.

7. Remove the new ima ging drum from the bag. Place the used imagin g drum in the bag for recyclin g. 8. Remov e the prot ective shi elding fro m the new imaging drum. CAUTION: To prev ent dam age, do not ex pose the imaging drum to light. Cover it with a piece of paper.

Control panel help system (touchscreen models only) The produc t has a buil t-in Help system tha t explai ns how to use e ach screen . To open the Help sy stem, touch the Help butt on in the upper -righ t corne r of the scre en. For some screens, the He lp opens to a global menu w here you can se arch for specifi c topics.
Restore the fact ory-set defaults Restoring the factory-set defaul ts returns all of the product and n etwork settings to the factory defaults. It will no t reset the pag e count, tray size, or la nguage . To restore the produc t to the factory-default settings, follo w these step s.
Solve paper feed or jam problems If the p roduct has recur ring proble ms with pape r feeding or with jams , use the following informatio n to reduc e the numbe r of occu rrences. The product does not pick up paper If the product does not pick up paper from the tray, try these solutions.
a. From the Home sc reen on the prod uct co ntro l pa nel, touc h the S etup b utton. b. Touc h the Ser vice menu. c. Touc h the Cleaning Page button. d. Load pla in letter or A 4 paper whe n you are prompted. e. Touc h the OK button to begin the cleaning process.
Clear jams from the input tray A Jam in t ray 1. C lea r Ja m and pre ss [ OK] message displays on the product c ontrol panel. 1. Remove the dust cover from the tray. 2. Remove the stack of paper from the input tray. 3. Remove a ny jammed pape r visible in the input tray area.
4. Reload paper in the input tray. Make sure that the paper fits under the tabs and be low the maximum-height indica tors. 5. Rein stall the d ust cover on the tray.
Clear jams in the output bin A Jam in output bin message displ ays on the product c ontrol panel. 1. If paper is visible in the output bin, grasp the leading edge with both hand s and slow ly remove it. 2. Open the rea r door to c heck for jammed p aper.
3. Remove a ny jammed pape r. Use both hands to pull out the paper to avoid tearing. 4. Close the rear door. ENWW Clear jams in the outpu t bin 79.
Clear jams in the doc ument feeder A Jam in the document feeder message displays on the product control panel. 1. If pap er is vi sible in the do cument feeder , grasp the leadin g edge with both hands and slowly remo ve it . 2. Lift the do cument f eeder input tra y.
4. Remove a ny jammed pape r. Use both hands to pull out the paper to avoid tearing. 5. Close the jam-access cover. 6. Close the do cument- feeder inp ut tray.

Check the paper-type setting (Mac OS X) 1. Cli ck t he File menu, an d then click th e Print option. 2. In t he Pr inter menu , select the pr oduct. 3. By default, the print driver displa ys the Copies & Pages menu. Ope n the menus dr op-down list, and then click the Fini shing menu.
Calibrate the product to align the colors If the printed outp ut has colored s hadows, blurry graphics, or areas that have poor color, you might need to calibrate the prod uct to align the colors. Print the diagnostics page from the Repo rts menu on the con trol pane l to check the color ali gnment.
4. Load pl ain letter or A4 paper w hen you are prompte d. 5. Touch the OK button to begin the cleaning pr ocess. The product prints the first side and then prompts you to remove the page from the output bin and reload it in Tray 1, keeping the sa me orientation.
● If do ts or streaks appear in onl y one of the groups, replace the toner cartridge that correlates with that group. ● If do ts appear in more than on e group, print a cleaning page. If this does n ot solve the p roblem, determine if the dots are a lways the same color; f or example, if ma genta dots appe ar in all five color bands .
Check the prod uct environmen t Verify that the product is operatin g within the environmental specificat ions listed in the p roduct Warranty and Le gal Gui de.
● Photo (sRGB) : The product interprets RGB color as if it were printed as a photogra ph using a digital mini lab . The pr oduct rend ers deep er, more satu rated colo rs differe ntly than with the Default (sRBG) theme. Use this th eme when pr inting photos .
Improve copy and scan quality Check the sca nner glass for dirt and smudge s Over time, specks of deb ris might collec t on the scanner glass and wh ite plasti c backing, wh ich can aff ect performanc e. Use th e fol lowing proc edure to c lean the scanner .
Check the im age adjustment settings The followin g image adjustme nt settings are available : ● Lightness : Adjusts the lightness/da rkness setting. ● Con tra st : Adjusts the con trast betw een the lig htest and darkes t areas of the image. ● Sharpen : Adju sts clarity of text characters.
4. Use the arrow buttons to scroll through the options, and then press the OK button to select an option . 5. Press either th e Black Start Copy button or the Color Start Copy button to start copying. Touchscreen control panel 1. Load the doc ument on to the scanner glass.
2. Use a moist, lint-free cloth to wipe both pickup rollers and the separation pad to remove dirt. CAUTION: Do no t use abras ives, acetone , benz ene, amm onia, e thyl alco hol, or carbon tetrachloride on any part of the product; these can damage the product.
Improve fax im age quality ● Check the scanne r glass for dirt or smudges ● Check the send-fax resolution s etting ● Check the lightness/ darkness setting ● Chec k th e Error Corr ecti on se t.

a. Open a comma nd-line pr ompt on yo ur computer . For Window s, click Star t , click Run , type cmd , and then press Ente r . b. Type ping followed b y the IP address for your product. For Mac OS X, open the Networ k Utility, and the n supply the IP address i n the correc t field in the Ping pan e.
Solve wireless network problems ● Wireless con nectivity checkl ist ● The product does not print after th e wirele ss confi gur ation co mpletes ● The produ ct does not print, a nd the compute r.
The product d oes not print after th e wireless configuration completes 1. Make sure that the product is turned on and in the ready state. 2. Turn off a ny third -party fir ewalls on your compu ter. 3. Make sure that the wireless network is working correctly.
The wireless network is not functioning 1. Make sure tha t the netwo rk cable is no t connecte d. 2. To verify if the network has lost communicati on , try conn ecting other dev ices to the network. 3. Test networ k communication b y pinging the ne twork.
● Keep the wire less d evices a way from la rge metal o bjects, such as filing ca binets, and othe r electromagnetic dev ices, such as microw aves and cordless telephon es. These objects can disrupt radio signals . ● Keep the wire less d evices a way from la rge mason ry structu res and ot her build ing structu res.
Solve fax problems ● Chec k th e har dware set up ● Faxes are sending slowly ● Fax quality is poor ● Fax cuts off o r prints on two pages Check the hard ware se tup ● Several possib le fixes are av ailable. After each recommended ac tion, retry faxing to se e if the p roblem is resolved.
5. Verify that the tel ephone servic e supports an alog fax. NOTE: HP products are designed s pecifically for use with analog pho ne services. ● If using ISDN or d igital PBX, cont act your service provider f or information abo ut configuring to an analo g fax line.
Fax qualit y is poor Fax is blurry or ligh t. ● Increase fa x resolution when se nding faxes. Resolu tion does not affect received faxes. 1. From the Home sc reen on the prod uct co ntro l pa nel, touc h the S etup button. 2. Select Fax Setup , a nd th en se lect Ad vanced Setup .
